The FM radio works well.
It's lightweight and small.
The music player distorts just slightly to make you wonder why it never seems loud enough to be clear.
I asked Transcend if the slightly distorted sound quality was normal and they responded with a link to a firmware update.
Now it freezes when transferring files in Windows and doesn't get mounted in Linux.
Having bricked the player with the new firmware there seems to be no way to restore the USB stick functionality.
The concept of the player is ideal, it's just a shame that it hasn't been implemented well.

I purchased this device expecting to make high quality voice, line in and radio recordings. I was very disappointed to find that the quality of the recordings is abysmal. Even recordings made on the so called 'high quality' setting are very poor quality. Unfortunately you will only discover this once you have tried the product, and having opened it you won't be able to return it for a refund. So take my advice and don't buy it. I am a tv sound technician and I know what I'm talking about.

I bought this item purely to use for the small size and the fact that it had line in to record with. All of the specs made this perfect for what I needed it for. I didn't try out the playing side of it or the built in mic so can't comment on those parts. This records at best 64kps WAV format. If you know anything about quality then you know the best that you can get is 320kps which is normally what you hear these days. I wasn't expecting 320kps or perfect quality but if I had know this before hand I wouldn't have bought it. 64kps is nowhere near good enough for me so I will be returning it.
