Internet Hotspot Connectivity

By switching to Internet Mode in your app settings, you can access the Internet and connect to the Wi-Fi SD card at the same time. Upload photos directly to Facebook or email to friends and family. Either use your home/office public wireless Internet or share your 3G/4G Internet service via the mobile device's Wireless Hotspot.

Exclusive Free Mobile App

You can browse and view all your photos and videos stored on the Wi-Fi SD card using Transcend's exclusive, free Wi-Fi SD App for iPad, iPhone and Android. Also use the app to configure your Wi-Fi options and security settings. Download the app easily from the Google Play Store for Android, the App Store for iOS or even the Amazon Appstore. Other Wi-Fi devices like your laptop or desktop can use an Internet browser to view your media. Almost any device with a wireless adapter and an Internet browser can connect to the Wi-Fi SD card this way.

Shoot and View Instantly

The app features a Shoot and View mode that lets you see each photo as it is taken in real time on your device. You can use your tablet to review photos you've taken instead of the small, low resolution display on the camera. You are able to instantly see how photos will look and make adjustments to get the best shot. Since the Wi-Fi SD card can stream to 3 devices at once, you can involve more people in the photo-taking experience.

Digital Camera Compatibility

Before purchasing the Wi-Fi SD card, please make sure your camera model appears on the Wi-Fi SD compatibility list on the Transcend website.

RecoveRx Software

With a purchase of Transcend's microSDHC Class 10 UHS-I memory cards, you can download RecoveRx software for free. This user-friendly application allows you to conduct an in-depth search within your storage device for traces of erased files to be recovered.

I purchased this card to try the WiFi capabilities between the camera and my iPad and iPhone. My main purpose was to be able to review my pictures on a larger screen (iPad) and in some cases to be able to send quickly a picture with an email (that happens very rarely since I'm not a pro).
Before you purchase the item make sure that your camera is compatible with the card. You can do that on the manufacturer's site. The box comes with very clear installation instructions and even if you are not very tech savvy you will be able to install the card and the software needed to your mobile platform of choice. I installed the software on my iPad and my iPhone and connected the devices to the card as stated on the instructions. The software is very simple and gives you two basic choices. The first is a Basic File Browser where you see the files listed inside the SD card and decide what to do with them and the second is the one that I'll probably use the most - Shoot & View. You basically snap a photo and the photo wirelessly is transferred to the screen of your tablet or phone. There you can save the picture and manipulate it or you can snap another one and it will appear on the screen etc.
There are two things you have to know. The first is that you have to disable the auto sleep function on the camera. If the camera goes into power save mode then the connection is lost and you have to reconnect every time. The second thing is that if you shoot RAW make sure that you enable RAW together with JPG, otherwise nothing will appear on the app (just RAW is not supported).
Those are my first thoughts on the card since I have it for a little time and I need to test it more. I hope I can update the review later on. Generally happy with the purchase since my basic need for reviewing the picture on a larger screen is fulfilled.

The Transcend Wi-Fi card whether it be the 16GB of the 32GB version was designed to give Wi-Fi compatibility to basically any digital camera/device that supports high capacity memory cards although there are a few exceptions so check the compatibly list here: and make sure your camera/device is listed to avoid disappointment. If you are a Canon EOS user and your camera model supports the eye-fi card I suggest you buy an eye-fi card even though the Transcend Wi-Fi will work in your camera. The reason I recommend this option is because you can control the eye-fi card setting from the camera i.e. you can switch the Wi-Fi transmission off via the camera if necessary to conserve battery power and also using the menu, control what images are sent using the camera built in image protect, whereas only protected images are sent from the camera. In order for the Transcend card to be compatible over a broad range of cameras/devices it has to be totally independent in its operation from the camera/device and therefore Wi-Fi is always active on the Transcend card when the camera/device is powered on which will add drain to your camera/device battery. The eye-fi option only appears below the Canon EOS card format option in the menu when an eye-fi card is inserted it will not appear with a Transcend Wi-Fi card inserted although the Wi-Fi card will work as it does for normal digital cameras. You can download the firmware update tool from the Transcend manufactures website to update to the latest firmware version which is currently at time of posting v1.8 if you require support for camera RAW files and find that the card you purchased doesn't handle RAW files.Read more ›

Before I slate this I would add that I am a) a semi-pro photographer, and b) a professional IT trainer. So it's not user-error fury that fuels this.....

Tested this using Nikon D300s, ipad 4 and IPhone 6 +.

I had hoped that this card would be an improvement on the Eye-Fi offerings I've used , the latter suffering from constant wifi drop-off, near non-existent file management capability etc, and the a transcend card purports to put these issues to bed. Nope.
Set up camera and devices approx 2" away from each other and could barely get the Card wifi signal to register wither either device. Well worse than eye-Fi and this is my main bugbear. For an hour it intermittently told me the default password was wrong (it wasn't), and occasionally it would just accept the password but fail to join network. Eventually I tried it by switching camera to live view, and I got a connection.
Took a few snaps and lost connection despite camera and device being side by side. Spent another hour reconnecting.
So, it seems that, if you are prepare to spend half a day establishing connection, and if you maybe tape the camera to the ipad/phone, and shoot real quick you may get a few pics downloaded. And yes, I've checked all the other parameters that might affect connection, no in-camera and on devices.
It's rubbish. The eye-Fi cards are really not great but they win hands-down over the Transcend card. Plus they have tech support that has some actual value - the Transcend site is really poor.
Clearly no one has managed to nail this bit of technology to date, and with the growing trend to in-camera wifi on new models, I guess no one ever will.
But if you are without in-camera wifi and looking for a card DO NOT go this route. Buy eye-Fi and settle for mediocrity rather than this appalling waste of time and money. I will be sending this back as not fit for purpose tomoro.
