5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshingly alternative, an ace discovery 22 Feb 2008
Format:Audio CD
Stumbled across the TV broadcast by chance and was so bowled over by the musicality and images that I didn't think to start the VHS! The concept of bouncing top class gaelic and American "folk" artists off each other is a knock out. Don't say you are not into folk music this disc will transport you to heaven and introduce you to a host of brilliant names - this is music and performance for musicians and how wonderful to get away from 4/4 time for a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, amazing, magical, moving, marvellous 27 Dec 2007
Format:Audio CD
The TV show is outstanding. I don't think of myself as a folk or country fan, but this music, (as well as the musicianship), is just so good that this should appeal to anyone who likes good music. With 19 tracks there should be something for everyone on this disc. My favourite of 2007!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning 30 Nov 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I stumbled across the Transatlantic Sessions recently on TV and was so knocked out by the performances that I looked to see if there were CDs available. It's almost impossible to fault these recordings and I've hardly been able to play anything else since they arrived. The guest performers are some of the best in ther field, but the real stars are the house band - all virtuoso musicians in their own right, the sensitivity with which they handle the guests material is astonishing, you would think they played together all the time.

A few tracks may be too 'folky' for some people, but as a whole this CD defies classification. Anybody who enjoys good music should find something of interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars transatlantic sessions5 20 Jan 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
We discovered atlantic sessions purely by accident, while flicking through chanels to trying to find something decent to watch. We could not believe the skill of these instrumentalists. In particular Aly Bain and Jerry Douglas. Why is this programm not shown on BBC1,2 or ITV.With so many repeats night after night, this would be something great for a change. The scenery too is fantastic to see, and when they are inside with a fire blazing, it makes you feel all cosy. Long may they continue to make great music together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven In Your Ears 23 April 2008
Format:Audio CD
When I eat my wife's cooking it is Heaven on a plate. When I listen to this it is Heaven in my ears. I curl my toes in delight and shake my head in wonder that this music comes forth to send me into rapture, all be it momentarily. Don't stop and keep the joyful music flowing.
