Secure your wheels and seat with these locking quick release wheel skewers and seat binder bolt. Designed to replace your existing wheel and seat quick release levers, this set acts as an extra deterrent to thieves, as the need for a tool is often enough to discourage casual theft of wheel. The Trans-X security skewer set features a special 5 sided allen key, that screws into the end of the skewers to remove or install the wheels or seat whenever necessary.

There's a bit flaw with the design of these skewers. Other security skewers tend to have a tab on the nutted site of the skewer. This tab prevents the nut from turning when tightening the skewer and also prevents the nut being undone.
It's easy to loosen these skewers without the tool, stick some grips on the nut and turn away. Hardly secure?
In fact, when my front wheel came loose and I had lost the special 5 sided tool this is exactly how I tightened the skewer back up.

i bought thi item on 10 05 12 to replace my quick release on my bike. this are very cheap for the price of £10 .look very good on the bike better than what i yhought. the best price around .im happy with my purchase.

As other reviewers have said, its very easy to remove a wheel secured by these skewers by using a couple of grips. So what you are buying with these, is security from the casual thief who isn't carrying a couple of grips! A serious thief is going to remove your wheels, if not your bike, whatever level of security you apply.

The only down for this anti-theft skewer is the key is not really unique! I guess that's why the price is so low.If you need the best one prepare around 6 times as much money! Read more

The best compromise.
Although this is a keyed-solution, it's a better solution than the various Lock 'n' Roll inverted-bike solutions that are out there; keyed or not.

Secures the wheels on my nicely and secure. Now It doesn't matter if I just lock the frame as I know no-one can nick my wheels :)
