Format: Audio CD
This CD has two tracks - the first is just an introduction from Dr Hillary which I've only ever listened to once. The second, however, is the most listened to track on my iPod as I listen every time I have trouble sleeping.

I had chronic fatigue syndrome for 2 years and as part of this suffered problems relaxing/winding down and sleeping. I own several relaxation CDs now, which I found really helped me to have intervalled rest as recommended for chronic fatigue sufferers, but only this one has helped me fall off to sleep.

I also have Dr Hillary's other CD (Relax?), and part of the sleep track is the same - he talks you through relaxing and then describes a beach scene etc. However on this CD the narrative is layed over some really relaxing music, and the end of the track has some kind of voice echo which somehow never fails me off to sleep.

I'm now recovered but still use this track when I'm stressed or can't sleep for some reason - definitely worth a try for anyone finding it hard to drop off.

Format: Audio CD
I find (or should I say 'found') it difficult to get to sleep. Once I do get to sleep, I constantly wake up during the night. I bought this CD and started listening to it thinking it wouldn't work. The next thing I knew, I was waking up in the morning! Fantastic!! If I do wake up during the night, I stick this CD on. It's so relaxing and stops me thinking about work and all that malarky when I'm supposed to be sleeping. I lost my first one and just had to buy another. Give it a go, it might just work for you too.

There are two tracks to this CD; part 1 is like an audiobook and part 2 is a guided visualisation.

Part 1 lasts just over 16 minutes, in which Dr Jones talks about techniques you can apply to improve your ability to sleep, as well as improve sleep quality. He also explains the various sleep-stealers we can encounter through busy living. Dr Jones explains pretty much everything you will learn by reading self-help books about sleep, everything makes sense, and he gives good advice. I have been able to make some of the recommended changes and they have really helped. What I like about this, is his soothing pleasant voice and gentle manner. I like to play this track while I am getting ready for bed as part of my winding-down routine.

Part 2 is for playing once you are in bed and the light is off. Dr Jones takes you on a guided meditation/visualisation that relaxes the mind and prepares you for sleep. He uses a variety of techniques to completely relax you and aid the onset of sleep. His voice is soothing, gentle, and relaxing and definitely contributes to the relaxation process. I have tried many of this type of relaxation/sleep aide CDs and Dr Jones' voice is by far the best I have heard. I wish he would record more of these!

I have been playing the tracks every night for months now; occasionally I switch to something different for a change, but switch back very quickly. I never tire of listening to them. I used to take over two hours to fall asleep, but with the help of Dr Jones, I can be asleep within 30 - 50 minutes now; which given the long-term insomnia I have, is a blessing!

If you have difficulties getting to sleep, this CD is highly recommended.

Did not find this very 'tranquil'. The background music was too loud for the speaking voice and also at one point, just when you might have been about to drop off the music blared out - not very peaceful. I also thought the oral instructions were too fast, as if he wanted to be done with it. I would have preferred no music - just a soft voice. I have had a relaxation tape for years and only because it is a 'tape' did I decided to get a CD, but my old one was much more suitable. I did think because it was Dr Hilary it would be fine, but sadly not for me !!

The thing i didnt like about this CD is the long and rather boring introduction. The CD is in 2 parts. Instead of relaxing i was thinking * please just get to the sleep bit*. When it does get to that i did actualy fall asleep but i woke as soon as it finished because the 2nd part is quite short. Ive had far better relaxation CDs that have worked so i dont think i,d recomend this one.

What I like: Nice soothing voice during the relaxation part, after some scary comments about what happens if you don't get enough sleep! No intrusive background music or noises that are meant to be soothing but aren't.

What I didn't like: the final part when the voice drops to an urgent whisper with other voices overlapping, this is irritating.

I will continue to use this CD to help me get to sleep.

I was very apprehensive about whether this would work for me, but desperate to switch my mind off work issues to allow restful sleep, so decided to try it. I don't usually have problems getting to sleep, but I wake up in the early hours and work issues immediately control my mind and this makes me very alert and wide awake - and it's usually several hours before I can sleep again. The first awakening I tried using the cd I listened to it all, then fell asleep soon after. Since then I have awakened on about 4 or 5 nights and used it again, but drifted off to sleep during it - I have not heard the full cd since then. After using the cd I always wake in the morning feeling that I have had a really good sleep.
