Product Description

Oakenfold,Paul ~ Tranceport

Amazon.co.uk

Of all the genres within electronic music, trance probably gets the worst rap. The music is guilty by association with the hippies that worship it with a religious-like fervour. And if executed poorly, its dramatic crescendos sound like pretentious, pompous pap. But a good trance DJ can save a string of the genre's records from falling down the drain of all-too-common gargantuan breakdowns and endless wind-ups. Paul Oakenfold might be the DJ to rescue trance from itself; Tranceport features a veritable who's who of trance records and producers--Sasha's remix of Gus Gus's "Purple", a few tracks from seminal trance producer Paul van Dyk, and the driving, impenetrable "Enervate" by Transa. Oakenfold's mixing is impeccably suited to trance: long, drawn-out bleeds of sound seep from one transcendent track to the next. --Tricia Romano

i've only really been a trance fan since 1997, but this is why. The songs on this CD are amazing and the way in which they have been mixed is not bad either. People often use 'uplifting trance' as a coloquial term, to me this is the definition of it. The songs are tinged with emotion whilst keeping a certain pace and energy about them which makes you want to listen to them again and again. Would recommend this CD for any trance fans collection as i would recommend Paul van Dyk's total back catalogue. He sometimes plays the same style music as Oakenfold but it is his creations that are worth paying out for: in this case the enchanting 'words'

I have been heavily interested in the dance scene since 1990. Over the last few years I have become disenchanted somewhat with some of the commercial rubbish that is being released. Tranceport however captured my interest from track 1, and I must say is the Best Oakenfold Trance CD, on general release that I've had the pleasure of hearing. Oakenfold at his very best!

Of all the Global Underground-esque discs that I have, this is quite literally my favourite. Solid joyful trance all the way through that I just cannot get enough of. Highly, highly recommended.

My good lady wife and I both love that young lass'Duffy . We saw her singing 'Warwick Avenue' on the goggle box and made a note on a sheet of pale blue Basildon Bond to make a purchase next time that we are in town. While we buy many items from Amazon on a regular basis, our son Colin works in WH Smiths and we like to provide him with the face to face custom.

Well, imagine our surprise next day when we came across a 99p copy of 'Rockferry' in our local Sue Ryder shop that we promptly purchased and took home. Like many charity outlets, Ms Ryder sellotapes the jewel cases shut to prevent problems with the local yobs. Imagine my surprise when we opened the case at home to find not the lovely Duffy but a CD called 'Tranceport' therein. So we curbed our disappointment with a pot of tea and the colour supplement from the Telegraph. Being a gin and jag man, I put a Matt Monro CD on and relaxed. But after a while, Dorothy (the trouble and strife) complained that "Monroe is a bloody communist" and regaled me with tales of how she once saw him in 1974 on BC2 wearing a CND badge.

So we gave Mr Oakenfold a try. I had to answer a call of nature so i missed track one. I returned to see my wife taking a bit of funny turn during during the Three Drives track. She used to be a fully qualified nurse but stopped when we wed in 1954, So, aware of her thorough medical knowledge, I asked her if she was all right. However she seemed to be entering a trance like state. I couldn't concentrate on the content of the next few tracks as my wife, now in a full trance told me that she was a Princess from Papua New Guinea and commenced demanding 'an offering'. I reminded her not to be a silly sausage and that she was born, bred and wed in Henley-on-Thames.

I really did shed a few tears when listening to this CD, which was first released in my trance hey day. It brought back so many very happy memories and reminded me of why Mr Oakenfold means so much to me. EVERY SINGLE TUNE IS AWESOME! Someone by Ascension has to be one of my all time favourites, along with Words by Paul Van Dyk. This for me, was the most awe inspiring time in music history. No matter how bad you felt, Paul Oakenfold could piece together the most mind blowing trance anthems that allowed you to escape into a happier place. I feel extremely justified in my love for Mr Oakenfold. Listen to this CD and I am sure you will understand why.
