COSMIC GATE - BIOGRAPHY

Over 10 boundary-pushing years, Nic Chagall and Bossi have evolved Cosmic Gate into one of the most creative and highly-sought-after electronic music acts in the world. This is nothing more than a fun electro CD with dashes of trance. There have been some fantastic releases in the last year, Passion The Album, vol 2. the best in my opinion, and a whole load of amazing singles, yet none of them feature on this.

Yes, music evolves and trance has done just that, but this isn't a trance CD, and anyone who has the slightest knowledge of the genre will know that.

I have been collecting this series of Cd's and I must say this is good. This is typical Cosmic Gate. Big, big club sounds and banging bass lines. I must say that I was slightly underwhelmed by the last, Rank 1 Trance nation CD, but this new edition is as good as the Above and Beyond and the Andy Moor Trance Nations. This CD is chock full of good tunes and I just love 'Cosmic Gate's Be your sound'. A.v.Buuren is on to something when he says its perfect trance.

It does grow on you 9 Jun 2013

Coming from the original trance nation CD by Ferry Corsten you can feel a bit disgusted with the trash produced now that calls itself trance, the above and beyond 2011 trance nation CD is a good example, a couple of real highlights (Oliver Smith's remix of Ashes for example), but mostly mind numbing over-produced garbage.

This one was very promising with the opening track, and then after about track 4 goes down hill. However, over time I've really grown to like this CD. It's not up there with the all time greats like Matt Darey's pure Euphoria, but it's also a different kettle of fish.

If you like modern trance (and I do like the new stuff thats good) this is actually a really nice CD. It's got a fairly dark and haunting theme throughout, which makes a nice change from the happy clappy stuff you hear from Arty and the likes, though it's got it's fair share of cheese I guess.

You could do a lot worse, and overall it's an enjoyable CD to listen to, which is what matters when your in the car, playing some video games or chilling in a lounge.

Good mix with too much house cheese for my taste 29 Mar 2012

After enjoying Cosmic Gates Back 2 Back volumes two, three and four it seemed a no brainer to try this latest Ministry of Sound Trance Nation release. Although the mixing is stellar too many of the tracks are vocally dominated instead of in the backround. This 2 disc mix caters towards the mainstream house music enthusiast instead of the purist trance type category I tend to fall into. In any event I look forward to Cosmic Gates next Back 2 Back release.

Mehhh 28 Oct 2013

Lacks suspense and builds, in my opinion. I buy these Trance Nation albums for workout music and I found this one non-energetic, non-motivating and boring.
