Product Description

CD Description

At the end of the decade there has been one genre of music that has evolved to become the biggest in dance on the planet. Eight out of the top ten DJs in the world play it. It has transformed those such as Tiësto into global legends in a time when the idea of the superstar DJ has otherwise gone. Ministry of Sound has taken the very greatest of this genre, the seminal tracks that inspired a generation, and created the definitive album - Trance Nation: The Collection.
Set across four CDs is a complete guide to the best in Trance music. Disc one is the main room, featuring gods of the scene that have smashed the charts and massive floorfillers. Disc two features the epic euphoric anthems that should be known by all, for the true hands in the air experience. The third CD is harder, raising the pace with heavier beats for the bass lovers, bound to get pulses racing. Finally disc four covers the finest in Nu Trance, featuring the cutting edge of what’s currently tearing up dancefloors.
From start to finish, every standout track has been perfectly selected and mixed, resulting in the ultimate euphoric experience across the mammoth album. The ambassadors of Trance are all present with Paul van Dyk, Faithless, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, the number 1 DJ in the world for the last 3 years running Armin Van Buuren and scores more. Crucially the newer blood is represented in force with the likes of Rank 1, Gareth Emery and Sander van Doorn.

For fans of the more melodic, euphoric style of Trance it's a bit of a flat album - it's a vast album but in amongst the classics you probably already have if you're a big trance fan are lots of very very long tunes that rely largely upon just `decent' repetitive rythms and beats.
Luckily, it's saved by a few gleaming jewels. Veracocha's stunning `Carte Blanche' is in there, along with the gorgeous but manic `Til Tears Do Us Part' from Heaven's Cry, which feels like yet another different mix from the usual Flash Harry's mix, and Art Of Trance's always breathtaking `Madagascar' - practically a bible entry for Trance fans.
A lot of old and justifiable classics share space, which among others include Darude's `Sandstorm', William Orbit's `Barber's Adagio for Strings', Faithless' `God is a DJ' and Delerium's `Silence'. In terms of the occasional new mixes, there's only one mis-step - a horrendous vocal edit of Chicane's old classic `Offshore' which I found trashed the memory of the original.
Personally I went in hoping this had some brilliant old or new tunes I'd missed. I wasn't disappointed, as there are some sparklers in there. The standouts for me were DT8's exciting `Destination'. After long intro warm-ups, Ralph Fridge's `Angel' and the Sean Tyas mix of `Sanctuary' were also amazing, along with Ummet Ozcan's `Arcadia', Oakenfold's `Deepest Blue' reminiscent `Firefly', L'esperanza and Coming Home from Armin Van Buuren.
Along with these, there's Tim Berg's amazing stadium-buster `Bromance' in all it's glory. For fans of the more aggressive tunes you also get the nicely updated Operation Blade, now with a more rounded Trance backing and updated beats and Voodoo and Serano's fantastically punchy `Blood is Pumping'. It'll be a disappointment if you're a dedicated fan expecting continuous excellence. But if you've somehow not purchased these big tune classics before and want an album that also throws in some modern dancefloor genius, it's well worth getting. It certainly filled many long journeys with tons of entertainment, which was what I bought it for, with it's 80 main tracks, and 4 club-mixes.

This is an absolutely huge collection of trance mixes including some real classics including my personal favourite trance mix of all time, Ferry Corsten's remix of William Orbit's 'Adagio for Strings'. OK, there's a few duffers here too, but that's almost a natural law when you get 80 (count 'em) tracks. There are also 4 continual mix tracks each weighing in at about 1hr 20mins with the Euphoric and Nu Trance mixes being the stand outs.

Overall, this is a huge collection of classic trance tunes and for the laughably small price you can't lose. Recommended.
