This is a French-issued limited edition version of Patti Smith's last album Trampin, with a bonus live disc thrown in. I'm not going to review the aforementioned album, since there are reviews of this already available elsewhere, but restrict my comments to the bonus disc. Sometimes these bonus discs are a bit of a rip-off, a couple of remixes, b-sides and videos, running time less than 30 minutes. Not in this case. What you get is a full-length CD (72mins 34secs) taken from a French radio broadcast recorded on 24 July 2004. The quality is superb throughout, and if anybody who saw Patti Smith live in 2004 was looking for a great souvenir, they could do worse than start here. OK, "Because the Night", "People have the Power", and "Frederick" aren't on there, but that's a minor quibble. This is a great live recording, and at this point in time, the only officially released Patti Smith live album, so what are you waiting for ? If you've already bought Trampin' buy it again ! If not, why not ? treat yourself now, you won't be disappointed.

In this now very rare limited edition double-disc package sees the normal studio album 'Trampin' (which is simillar to and on a par with 'Peace & Noise' & 'Gone Again') coupled with the TRULY AWESOME LIVE CD.
The latter has superb sound quality - possibly the best I've ever heard on any live recording.
Patti kicks some serious butt here on both the rendition of 'Gandhi' and 'Radio Baghdad' which are POWER-FULL!
For me the rest of the album is just a BRILLIANT bonus to these two masterpieces so if you can't stretch to the silly money this CD now fetches & go for the mp3 downloads, be sure to download at least those two tracks!
Of course they sound way better on cd not having been 'squished' by ripping to mp3.
This is a MUST-HAVE for every serious Patti Smith fan or any lover of BRILLIANT 'agit-rock' MUSIC!
