"Training Showjumpers" has been the standard textbook on showjumping since it first appeared in 1978. This second edition has been updated with new photographs and a revised text. Anthony Paalman is internationally known as a showjumping trainer, consultant and course designer. He is an advocate of the Natural Method of training horses and riders derived from the classical principles of the European cavalry schools. His book is a complete guide to showjumping training, from selection and early training of the young horse right up to participation in the highest grade of competition. Its contents include: Purchasing a Showjumper; Stabling; Shoeing; Tack; Breaking; Lungeing; Free Jumping; Schooling 'On Foot'; Jumping-Dressage; First Year Jumping Training; First Year Schooling Schedule; Novice Competitions; Advanced Jumping-Dressage; Improvement and Re-Schooling; The Second Showjumping Season; Junior Riders; and Course Design.

About the Author

Anthony Paalman was born and educated in Holland. His equestrian career began at the Royal Dutch Cavalry School. For many years he was the official national trainer and senior course designer for the Showjumping Associations of Ireland, Mexico and Switzerland, and several European, World and Olympic riders have been his pupils.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any rider wishing to teach/learn more about SJ, 12 Sep 2008

(REAL NAME)
This book is great, it has it all. From the unbroken youngster to the advanced SJ'er. I have and many teachers I know, swear on this book as if it were a Bible. It is so useful for striding and understanding how to cure and improve poor quality jumping in any horse at any level.
