I liked this story as i briefly knew Yvonne as one of her pupils in 1959. I have followed her career with interest over the years but never quite knew the background and her determination to succeed in a chauvanistic world.

At last the story of the most iconic women in recent British and world aviation. The first woman civilian Air traffic Controller, the first woman commercial airline pilot, the first woman commercial airline captain and the first woman of an all female commercial airline crew. So few people know the name but Mrs Pope Sintes, as the title suggests, is a trailblazer in the truest sense. It should be required reading in schools and part of history. I look forward to watching the film? well done Yvonne, an example for all of us! Success over adversity!

My father was a Captain with Dan-Air when Yvonne Sintes was with the company. He's now in his 80's and likes to recall his flying days, so I thought this would be an interesting book for him. He enjoyed it very much.
