A beautiful book about the red squirrel in Northumbria. This much endangered creature has been beautifully captured by Will; his passion for the red squirrel shines through. I have followed Will Nicholls work since he won the Young Wildlife Photographer of the year a few years ago. He is still a teenager, but has brought the beauty of the red squirrel for us all to see. Wonderful!

This book is a real delight. Over several years young photographer Will Nicholls has captured some splendid squirrel images. The gorgeous photographs here capture the beauty of our native squirrel and its fascinating behaviour. The text is informative but written in an easy going personal style. His enthusiasm for the species and his commitment to its conservation are evident throughout.
This book should interest anyone with an interest in wildlife photography and in the natural world and would make a terrific gift. It both introduces the red squirrel to those of us who live in areas where it is no longer found and should enthuse people everywhere to support its conservation.

The beautiful pictures I expected from this talented (and very young) photographer. What takes this book from coffee table to keepsake, is the humour in the photographs and the informative text which is a masterclass in deceptively simple writing that effortlessly informs and enlightens.

This glossy guide is filled with beautiful images of some of the most elusive creatures in our woodland and features a witty and honest commentary by the author throughout. The book provides a fascinating insight into the lovely red squirrel and has lots of helpful tips on how we can help with conservation efforts and even snap a few photos of our own. A true delight for animal lovers, coffee table book collectors and wildlife/photography enthusiasts.

A gorgeous book about red squirrels and a young man's journey to photograph these elusive, rare and secretive creatures. As Northumberland leads the way in trying to reestablish this native species in Britain it's wonderful to see them up close and personal. Will's photographs are individual portraits that reflect the characters and individuality of the squirrels that visit his hide. Having only ever seen a flash of red on a Northumberland woodland path these images are truly inspiring.

An added bonus are Will's photos of additional British species - some like the blue tit not as rare as the red squirrel, but again his photographs are quirky, insightful and a joy to see. I am looking forward to more from this talented young photographer in the future

A book that is impossible to open without smiling!

Lovely book; stunning photos and so much more. We have lots of reds around our house in Cumbria, but still learnt lots more from this captivating book. Buy it and support a very talented young photographer.

This book is really special.
With every picture it felt like I could feel the love for the red squirrel Will Nicholls has.
It really is a pity that there's just one cover for every book as there are so many beautiful pictures that would be worth to be there.

The text to the pictures are great as well. Written with great knowledge of the subject, but easy to read and to understand. It's not too technical but there's still sufficient information if you want to go and look for or try to photograph red squirrels on your own.

I would highly recommend "On the Trail of Red Squirrels" to everybody showing a the slightest interest in wildlife photography or wildlife in general.
