When people think of Kipling, they tend to think mainly of The Jungle Books, Kim and the poem If. This is a gem which has glimpses of the modernist way of thinking in Mrs Bathurst and They (which also discusses psychology and the supernatural). The best stories are those which discuss technology, of which Kipling was such a fan - electricity, radio and the motor car are all covered. There are also fascinating rereadings of Keats and Shakespeare. Requires a bit of effort on occasions, but it's really worth a read.
