Review

"Hodge took her readers to a rare journey that touches and break the hearts all at the same time through the eyes of Elena, the victim to whom the diary belongs. While reading, I could feel the victim's emotions pouring through; her sadness, frustration, anger and fear bundled into a giant seemingly endless burden. Hodge really did a great job in describing everything, no matter how explicit it was." -- The Bornean Bookworm

"Although the subject is a devastating one this story is beautifully written by Hodge. Hodge does a wonderful job, she manages to take you on this gritty journey leaving you breathless at the end. I highly recommend this novel! It is extremely moving, you will not be disappointed." -- Boekie's Book Reviews

"Heart wrenching and well written" -- Can't Put It Down

"This story is utterly heartbreaking. Some of the things that happen to Elena are truly horrific but somehow she never quite loses hope that she will be reunited with her daughter again. Being written in diary form I could see her in my head and I truly felt the things she was going through. I am not ashamed to admit I was in tears in places." -- Wistful Kimmie's Book Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars You must read this 18 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a book that must be read. It is the story of Elena who is kidnapped and trafficked to work in the sex business. It is a dark, hard-hitting story that pulls no punches. Written in the first person, in the form of a diary similar in style to the Diary of Anne Frank, it takes the reader right into the mindset of Elena. The reader shares her distress, her worries, her pain, and her fears. It succeeds on all levels as a story and I wouldn't be surprised if it became a classic.
I have no hestation in recommending this. Sibel Hodge is a writer to watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and Heart Wrenching Novella 12 Aug 2011
By Leelee
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the first book I have read by Sibel Hodge and follows a different track from her usual chick lit genre (which I have now downloaded samples to try).

It follows the tale of Elena from Moldova who is tricked by her best friend into thinking she is going for a better life for herself, her mother and her young daughter in Italy when infact she is going to be a sex slave.

Written in a diary format you can feel the emotion in Elena as if it were a real diary. This book may be fiction, however this sort of thing does happen in real life to many women.

Definitely worth a read for the insight into these thousands of poor women who are taken from their homes and thrown into a life of violence where they are too scared to try and escape for fear of what will happen to the families they left behind.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book 19 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I have just finished this book and have to say I agree with everything that has been said about it. I feel that it is a book that everyone should read especially now as trafficking is big business. I know that trafficking goes on but I did not realise to what extent and quite what is involved. This book is about a young woman who is tricked into accepting the offer of a better life only to find herself forced into prostitution a long way from her friends and family. Her situation can only be described as desperate and this book is her diary.
I think it is extremely well written and certainly a lot different to the 'chick lit' books written by this author. I would recommend anyone to read this book as I think it is an eye opener. It certainly was for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Once I started, I couldnt put it down! 13 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I was truly amazed by the revalations brought to light in this novel. It takes the readed through a journey that so many people go through yet so few are aware of. It is a truly interesting account, very well told. I read the whole story in one night, once I had started to get to know Elena I had to keep reading to find out what happened to her. I would like to have known a little more about Elenas' friendship with Natalia and how Natalia was able to manipulate and betray her best friend in such a discusting way! Absolutely loved it and I am looking forward to reading another of Sibelle's books, The Baby Trap!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing and moving - I cried throughout 8 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Please read this amazing book, and have your eyes opened to a world-wide human rights issue that's going on right under our noses. I read Trafficked from cover to cover in a morning, and felt moved beyond belief. There are lots of dry text books about the economics and facts and figures of human trafficking, but this diary-style read puts you right in the shoes of a trafficking victim, and you feel the human side of this terrible crime. If you don't know much about human trafficking, and even if you feel it might be too 'heavy', please, please, I urge you to read this book and have your eyes opened. It will change your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping 14 Aug 2011

The topic is hard reading, but the storytelling is superb.
I love Sibel's chick lit writing and was unsure whether I wanted to read this story, but am glad I did. It's sad that trafficking exists nowadays and this story highlights the nightmare that the girls go through.
Well done Sibel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreaking and compelling 14 Aug 2011
By F Dyas
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is simply wonderful. It is very different from Sibel Hodge's other chick-lit work, but is still great. It is certainly not an easy read, the subject matter is horrific. But this book kept me turning the pages, and I finished it in hours. It is simply told, a diary of Elena's story as she is tricked as she looks for a better life for her child and mother, and sometimes simple is best. I would recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic concept 10 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I first discovered Sibel as a chick-lit author and was amazed by her writing.

This was a heart-wrenching read told from a Sex worker's POV and in diary format. It's an exceptional read and has highlighted a vile trade.

I take my hat off to you, Sibel on an amazing job well done.
