Worth considering,

The big advantage for me was that this was installed in my Mini and didn't spoil the look of the inside of the car. I've not installed it in my new car, but that's mainly because I'm very visual and like to see my route, rather than any faults.
Advantages: 1. Very neat and tidy, no wires. 2. Very easy for anyone to use, just press the button to connect to operator who sends a route through. You don't even need to know the right address, they'll look it up on the internet for you while you drive. (useful if you're running out of petrol on the moterway) Even her indoor could use it easily! 3. Re-routing because of traffic was pretty effective and time saving usually. 4. Routing was usually sensible. Dis-advantages: 1. You need a mobile signal for the unit to dial the switchboard and for the route to be delivered; this was occasionally a problem. 2. Can work out quite expensive as there's a monthly subscription or charge per route. Speed camera feature is extra.

BEST sat nav you can buy.,

Discreet system not visible in the car apart from the Smart Nav button, tiny microphone and gps unit (and I mean tiny, you don't know they're there). Press and hold the Smart Nav button and a real person asks you where you want to go. No need for postcodes if you don't know them. You can even ask for a specific shop or just a building in a town without any address. Clear voice guides you. You really don't need a screen with this system which means you don't have to remove anything when you leave the car, although a screen is available if you want one. Alternative routes will always be given if they are available and traffic hold-ups missed; it works brilliantly (I've had mine for three years now and it's never let me down).
When you want to return home again just press the button twice and it automatically takes you home. You can set your frequent destinations online so you just ask for them by a number if that is what you prefer. New units now cover UK and Europe. Not the cheapest obviously but the best by far. You can 'pay as you go' (they take a £25 lump sum into your account and it is taken for each journey at under £1 per journey at current prices). You can also pay monthly for unrestricted use.
