More About the Author

I've been writing books for 22 years now, and have been a journalist for a mere forty! Most of my books are about food - I love to cook and eat. I also have an interest in health and nutrition and one of my best-selling books was The Food Bible. In 2011 I joined forces with the world-famous gardening expert Dr D G Hessayon to write 'The Garden to Kitchen Expert'.

I started out on a slightly different tack - as a show business writer on a teen magazine 'back in the day' (circa late sixties to mid seventies!). The true story of those years became my only non-food/health book, Keith Moon Stole My Lipstick. The Kindle version was published in March 2013.

I have a regular blog at the Saga Magazine website on their health pages - - which often features my recipe of the week, and a rant about some latest health injustice or celebrity fad or my own inability to lead the perfect healthy lifestyle!

I live in Herefordshire, and am married with two grown-up boys, three very grown up step-children and several grand and step-grandchildren too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, effective, non-faddish... 29 Aug 2006
By Splossy
Format:Paperback probably won't sell! This book is an attempt to make working out what to eat as easy as possible. She puts foods into 3 colour coded groups which related to their calorie density and then you base your diet around eating a certain number of each group. No need to calculate or remember calories.

It's very healthy since it ensures you eat your 5 portions of veg/fruit a day and get most of your cals from healthy foods.

It has "treats" which enable you to have a glass of wine etc so you are not altering your life too much.

Overall it is a very sensible and sustainable way of approaching food. You get charts, recipes, various day-plan suggestions for different lifestyles plus a basic exercise plan.

A friend had told me about the traffic light diet and she looked fabulous having lost a lot of weight on it. So I wondered if I could try it! Amazon had the book on offer and i am very pleased with the book - and the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sound nutrition advice 23 Mar 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a brilliant buy for people who feel clueless about nutrition - as Judith explains clearly which foods are healthy and which aren't. Plus a healthy, wide-ranging diet is recommended. Also very good on portion sizes. Definitely worth a read for health-conscious types.

5.0 out of 5 stars was delecious..yum,yum. 3 Nov 2009
Other than the cover being a bit chewy, the book tasted delicious. The pages were full of fibre and calories virtually nil. I would recommend this book as a main course after using the menu as a starter. My wife, who wanted this book has been selecting all of the red items to eat and has been really enjoying herself whilst piling on even more weight. Any diet is a good diet.....Will Power is the key.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where are the calories? 13 Nov 2013
By Kinna Carroll - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
It is helpful for someone who needs to know why they should eat better foods. There should be reference material to calories which would be more helpful. The recipes are minimal but easy to follow and do. I would have preferred more information about foods.
