Former lecturer Tony Barrow is North East England maritime expert, and this very readable book is a product of his knowledge and research.
Importantly Dr Barrow includes in the appendix the name of every north country seaman (e.g Newcastle, Northumberland, Shields, Sunderland, Co Durham, in fact all the way down to North Yorkshire!) who served at Trafalgar including the ship they served on and also the wounded lists, so if you can get hold of a copy of this book it is a goldmine of information for family historians.
(On that note I cannot help adding that I myself was delighted to find in this book, long suspected confirmation that my gggg grandfather, a keelman from Blaydon, saw action on the HMS Colussus.)
