Review

" Chiaverini (The Wedding Quilt) writes novels plotted around the Elm Creek Quilters. She describes well the work produced by the women, but all the fine adjectives in the fiction do not do justice to the quilts she produces. Perhaps that's why, in addition to 18 novels, Chiaverini has also authored four collections of quilt projects, based on the novels' quilts. Her newest contains quilts described in Chiaverini's last half-dozen novels, along with sidebar quotes from the novels, but discusses little of the quilts themselves. For The Last Quilter, set in the Civil War, Chiaverini designed Mr. Lincoln's Spy. Pineapple Patch, the quilt developed from The Aloha Quilt, is worked in an emerald green material set in ivory from Chiaverini's fabric line. She designed the 13 projects, including two holiday quilts, and pieced them, sometimes aided by her mother, Geraldine Neidenbach, and her sister, Heather Neidenbach; a friend, Sue Vollbrecht, machine-quilted them. Templates are sized to work

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful quilt patterns 6 Nov 2011
By Shasta - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I enjoyed seeing quilts that were mentioned in the Elm Creek Quilts novels to see if they looked the way I imagined them. This book includes backgrounds on some of the books, and excerpts from many of the novels. The quilts are beautiful and intricate. Many of the patterns use templates, and most are geared to the intermediate and advanced quilter. I haven't made any of the quilts in this book, but the directions seem to be thorough, step by step ones. There are no quilting directions however, and most use the standard "quilt as desired".

I won the book in a giveaway by C&T publishing blog.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great collection of quilt patterns 17 Jun 2014
By R. Neighbors - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This collection of antique quilt patterns is well written and well illustrated. The instructions for each of the patterns are clear; the history of the pattern is also interesting, AND these are the patterns mentioned in Jennifer Chiaverini's quilting series of books. I hope to give her entire collection of fiction and these quilt project books to my nieces.
