Product Description
This is a wonderful collection of the best recipes for a traditional British tea, from well-known favourites to regional and historic gems that have stood the test of time and will satisfy even the most jaded of palettes. Of course, all the basics of good teatime cooking is covered, including pastry, basic bread-making and pie-making with great tips on common baking problems and how to avoid them. With these tips and these recipes, you will always have something special to have with a cup of tea. The author is a leading expert on tea, food and tea history, and she provides not only a brief history of the recipes (many going back centuries) but also the best teas to drink and how to prepare it. features well known favourites, regional and historical gems......'

188 high quality matt pages, split over 5 main chapters:-

Breads

with an introduction, a section entitled:- 'Successful Baking', which includes pastry making and recipes, conversion charts, American equivalents, plus an index.

Simply laid out book.
Each chapter has opening text.
Each recipe has the title, relevant opening - often historical text, list of ingredients, quantity made/number of servings plus a clear method.

A little light on photography, with just 32 full colour plates throughout, but easy to forgive as this is good old British teatime cooking!
