This book has many beautiful stencil designs and is a good resource book for the professional stenciler. The designs are all copy right free. The only complaint I have is that some of the designs are printed very small and it can be quite difficult to enlarge it to the right size. Also some of the designs can be a little difficult for a beginner to cut themselves. This book is more suited for a professional or someone very experience in cutting their own stencils.

I am a professional decorative artist and this book is just invaluable to me. It is crammed with the most beautiful victorian designs, suitable for use in every part of the house. It is really designed for the professional to use, but with a little practice, I believe that most people would be able to enlarge the designs and turn them into a stencil themselves.
Dover Publications' range of motif and design books are the best on the market and as they are copyright free it is wonderful to be able to reproduce the motifs and recreate a victorian feel in one's home. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone interested in producing their own stencils and victorian design and the price just makes it an absolute bargain.

This book has some wonderful ornamental patterns and designs for any designer to use as a reference. The designs are copyright free which is great, but I didn't think that as they are all stencil designs there are loads of gaps in the work; making tracing etc a little more laborious.

Inside this superb book you'll find an enormous variety of attractive and boldly printed images. Mosaics, landscapes, ornamental borders, architectural ornaments, religious symbols, animals (lions, horses, birds, etc.), floral corners...much more. This volume reproduces two rare catalogs of such stencils manufactured ca. 1918 and ca. 1920 by H.Roessing of Chicago. This book is also a fantastic source of inspiration for your own designs!

Some pages are blurred and stencil patterns are small.
Not good if you want to photocopy and cut.
there must be an updated version of this.
Just the same, it's got pages upon pages of stencil patterns.

Very nice book, however to small scale for me and too complicated not for a beginner. Plus a bit pricey. So not for the faint hearted or short of money as may be disappointed. This is one for experts.
