I thoroughly recommend this CD to anyone interested in traditional Lakota singing and culture rather than the synthetic new-age stuff.

The Porcupine Singers played an important role in making these traditional songs available both to younger generations of their own people and to a wider public.

The performances are very powerful and inspiring.

Severt Young Bear (Drum Keeper, singer and founder member) has written a fine book - Standing in the Light - which is also available from Amazon and will help listeners achieve greater insight into the words, beliefs and feelings behind these songs.

this CD is abobsutly the best! I am not to expierienced in criticism (or spelling) but this was undoubtly excellent. I encourage anyone who like Native American music to listen to this!

Beautiful traditional drumming and singing; every song is filled with passion and soul. This is definitely one of my favorite CDs.
