5.0 out of 5 stars A Welcome Addition 19 Dec 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Many people have turned out books similar to this one in recent years but very few have been quite so well done. Benjamin Crosby has turned out an excellent little winner here that is every bit as informative and pleasing to the poultry enthusiast as is available at the moment and comparable in quality and informed knowledge to works we have seen by "British Poultry Greats", like Fred Hams and Dr Joseph Batty.
The book gives short but accurate descriptions of our well known and some lesser known native breeds covering strains, colour, character traits and productivity.
It is not written in a laborious or lecturing fashion making it a light and interesting read.
This book has been a welcome addition to my, already groaning with poultry books, book case and has already been read cover to cover.
I recommend it to poultry fanciers old and new.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for the British poultry enhusiast 22 Feb 2012
Format:Paperback
Although I am not an expert in poultry keeping, I found this book to be very informative, insightful, and colourful. Packed with information on traditional poultry breeds including ducks and geese, the sizable photographs helped to bring them alive. The author seems very knowledgeable about his chosen subject, and his keenness shines through.

If you are thinking of keeping any poultry, and place any sentimental or practical value toward some remarkably beautiful traditional British breeds, I would advise you to take a look through this book and find some inspiration!

Overall, a very good book and one I strongly recommend.
