Product Description

Finally! A humorous novel that tosses corruption onto the horns of the Wall Street bull. TRADING DREAMS slams the forces that hijacked the economy in a tale that is funny, thrilling and spiritual. Author J.L. Morin unveils the ironies of established Wall Street greed to the baseline of a grassroots Occupy movement.

This redemption story depicts the pitfalls of a new-hire at a bank. When her villain CFO sets her up as a scapegoat for 'robo-signing' mortgages with no paperwork, Jerry fights back . . . as if she didn't have enough to worry about running from a murderer.

J. L. Morin grew up in inner-city Detroit. TRADING DREAMS is the third novel by J. L. Morin, whose writing was nominated for the Pushcart Prize in 2011. Morin is a gold medalist eLit book award winner and won Living Now a award for the Japan novel, SAZZAE written as a creative thesis toward an AB at Harvard ('87).

4.0 out of 5 stars Will Wall Street and its men survive Morin? 22 Jan 2013
By Sini
Format:Kindle Edition
This is how souls and dreams are traded at heart of corporate power at Wall Street: in great numbers at high altitudes! Those in the know of finance banking and those curious about our financial melt-down, and ANY woman who ever hated male stupidity and ANY man curious of how women perceive their pomp, will get intelligently entertained thanks to J.L.Morin's "Trading Dreams". I swallowed this rare night table book under a constant and recurrent gripping sense that little separated me from Morin's clever and funny story - so transparent and non-interfering is her easy writing style. All "Trading Dreams" characters are sad in their own ways, but infatuating nonetheless as witty laughter is never far with Morin. A professional city girl cannot but recognise something of herself in Jerry's search for a more tolerable state of being. Guided by Jerry's survival instinct, the reader might not land where she does, but will nonetheless be equally surprised to see what happens to merger of corporate power and state with a little bit of concerned female touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful, funny, wonderful! 5 Dec 2012
Format:Paperback
A valiant and suspenseful stand against the corruption that hijacked the economy. The protagonist hits it on the nail when she says, "What hypocrisy. Not democracy, democrisy. We all became temps after the rest of the world's liposuction of American debt. Real estate plummeted, banks foreclosed on the floorboards and people moved to Zuccotti Park." It's a miracle that Trading Dreams made it through corporate traps and got to deliver its message to Wall Street bankers and the Occupy movement alike. This helps restores my faith in democracy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not just an "Occupy" novel 3 Dec 2012
Format:Paperback
This book is more than an `Occupy' novel. Yes, "Trading Dreams," J.L. Morin's new novel from Harvard Square Editions, delves into today's Occupy Movement and the Wall Street meltdown that got us there with quick wit and an insider's knowledge of the world of finance. But it's also an entertaining and intriguing character study of the mysterious "Jerry," a young female banker whose shocking backstory foreshadows a surprise revelation. Morin dives in with a novelist's perspective on a story that has so far been owned by the media.
