Product Description

A jungle adventure with a difference a safari that includes much boy-girl, girl-boy, girl-girl stuff and lots lots more. Hamilton Hornee is the private detective hired by a bank to find the missing child of a famed African explorer. 15 years previously her parents were slain in the jungle by savage natives and he's to establish if by some miracle she has survived. If the girl is found, she will now be 21 years of age and will inherit the multi-million dollar estate of her father. Hornee and his Girl Friday, Jane, head the search party which includes Max and Doris Matthews, cousins of the late wealthy explorer. If the missing girl is not found, they get to inherit the money. Also on the safari are Tender Lee, a columnist looking for the story of a lifetime and Stanley Livingston, a zoologist who's trying to prove the existence of Nabucco, the legendary great white gorilla. In Africa, Hornee hires as a guide Kenya Adler, a famed hunter and explorer who is now a bit past his prime. Soon the expedition is captured by the Meshpokas people, who are ruled by the beautiful young blonde haired, white goddess Algona and are the most feared natives in all the Dark Continent. Stanley Livingston finds his great white gorilla, which turns out to be a British Commissioner in an ape-suit, who in reality is a notorious escaped Nazi war-criminal. Algona discovers she's the missing child and frees all the captives except one; Hornee... she keeps him for her own amusement! Good Bawdy Fun.

A fairly typical British Sex Comedy of the 1970's. The flesh on display is quite attractive, the pictures on the box (like the posters at the cinema!) promise more nudity than the film delivers, the only good bits in that respect are at the very start of the film.....
The acting is poor (never had to be otherwise, really, to get an audience) and some of the "native" stuff will offend modern racial sensibilities.

Want a funny 70's sex comedy? Buy "Eskimo Nell" the British one not the Australian "True Story Of..."

That's my advice to you. But this is more typical of the genre, unfortunately....

Entertainment Bonanza 7 Jan 2001
By Thomas K. Kilgore - Published on Amazon.com
This movie is incredibly ahead of it's time. Considered porn in it's day due to nude females and "adult" language, it is no more shocking by todays standards than a Madonna video. It is the comedy that sets this one apart from the crowd.

This is ribald comedy in the classical sense, peppered with 1960s taboos and social commentary, but serving up the sight gags and asides when you least expect them.

A Dave Freidman classic.

Here's Algona! 5 May 2003
By Howard Sauertieg - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
Friedman's spoof of Hollywood 'jungle movies' is over 30 years old, but it still holds up as both comedy and 'adult' fare.

There's a fair measure of toplessness and multitudes of bare behinds, particularly among the jungle denizens, so this film is not for the kiddies (unless you're a rather progressive parent). What makes the film memorable, however, is its outrageous treatment of that timeless Hollywood genre wherein Anglo-Americans venture into savage territory for treasure or to capture some legendary creature (e.g. King Kong). Friedman (who wrote the screenplay) pulls out all the stops here, making TRADER HORNEE both a masterpiece of political incorrectness (stuffed with questionably racist & sexist jokes) and a harmless confection of tame eroticism.

Blond siren Deke Sills ("Algona") never made another film, but she's a great amateur actress - greatly amateur, if you get my drift - and a balm to the soul. If you're red-blooded, full of pep and ambition, and a fan of matinee-style jungle adventures, you don't want to miss TRADER HORNEE!

The DVD includes the 8-minute film trailer - a classic of pulchritudinous self-congratulatory rhetoric - and an informative though low-key audio commentary by Friedman & Something Weird's Mike Vraney. You'll watch it more than once, and that's saying something!

A light farce of a jungle goddess hunted for her inheritance and treasure. Not a bad movie for the this type of movie. Nudity included.
