This is just 'THE book to have and to learn from as a complete novice like myself. Yes there are loads of others out there but they can get too complicated...this one shows easy 'how to' steps and packed full of internet resources.
Highly recommended purchase for the family history novice

Excellent book 12 Feb 2011
Format:Paperback
Whilst explaining how to go about researching your family tree in a simple, clear and readable way, this little book never patronises the more experienced researcher. The section on how to record your findings is excellent and everything is up-to-date & relevant. This is the one to read to get you started if you're a novice - and also the one to remind those who've already started how and why to be methodical. An excellent book!

A handbook on how to research your family tree on line with tips on useful sites and contacts
the handbook also explains where to access some of the paper archives and which archives are best for each aspect of your research
I read this book in one sitting but it will be beneficial to dip in and out while conducting research to look for new avenues to research when hitting a wall or just for guidance on recording the information gained and making it available to others.
well worth the purchase price and a pocket size book that isn't to heavy to carry in your bag on the hunt.
