Product Description

Review

Pictured on the front cover of this 224 page paperback is a bright red Toyota Celica, the last version of the Japanese coupé to be made before being withdrawn from the market last year. The Celica was an extremely popular car amongst the rally fraternity as it was the first Japanese model to win the World Rally Championship title. With acclaimed motoring historian Brian Long as its author, the book tells the full story of the seven Celica generations (from 1970) and that of its close sibling, the Supra. Written with the full support from Toyota HQ in Japan, this is truly the definitive history of these sporting Toyotas. Apart from the front cover, there are 599 other colour photographs. Also included are the models advertising campaigns and brochures from down through the various ranges. --Review from Fleet Transport, December 2007

If you're driving a Toyota Celica or Toyota Supra, this is your Bible. 'Celica & Supra: The book of Toyota's sports coupés' will tell you all you ever wanted to know about the two performance-bred cars. Dating back to its introduction in 1970, the book gives you the low-down about the Celica's rally and racing history, along with the Supra's many race guises. To top it off, there's comprehensive coverage of both models in their road-going formats as well. --Review from New Zealand Performance Car magazine, December 2007

It's worth reminding ourselves that the Toyota Celica was the first Japanese car to claim victory in the WRC. Have you ever wondered how that was achieved; how the Celica developed from the Coke bottle-shaped car of the seventies to the wedge-shaped car of the noughties; and how the Supra developed from a spin-off model to the manufacturers top performance icon? All this and much, much more is chronicled and illustrated in Brian Long's latest year-by-year reference work entitled Celica & Supra The book of Toyota's sports coupés. --Review from Banzai Magazine, October 2007

Brian Long's Celica & Supra book is a great reference on these cars. Slightly more focused on the America market but still some valuable informaition on UK cars, confirming many of the facts thrown around on the online forums as well as filing on gaps in most Celica enthusiasts knowlage.

I was surpised by the level of detail, which goes down to the gear ratios in each models gearbox, what ever you want to know about Celicas or Supras you are sure to find it in here.

I bought this book to find out more about Celica GT-Four's, and it's not just a great read, but also a good reference book. It goes into great detail in places including the price of the vehicles on the Japanese market and also the differences between each model, spec and equipment from model launch to end of production. The book also covers the racing pedigree of each model and lists its accomplishments. As it covers both the Celica's AND Supra's, i saw this book as two books for the price of one. A great book for any Toyota fan.
