Our favourite Toy Story characters make another welcome appearance in the latest instalment of a modern Disney classic. Toy Story 3 is a fine piece of CGI animation. This successful modern animation represents Disney finest piece in the 21st century. Toy Story 1 and 2 enjoyed massive success. Toy Story 3 continues to be captivating, enchanting and hugely entertaining. It shows no signs of faltering and continues to maintain wide appeal to various ages. I thoroughly enjoyed the animation. The animation conveys the values and qualities of what Disney is traditionally renowned for. This includes a mixture of charm, humour, magic and a beautiful story. The characters shine strongly in the animation. Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Mrs and Mrs Potatoes Head and others are memorable and sparkling characters. I admire the friendship between the characters and how reunited they stand n the face of difficult times. It is really touching and beautiful to admire.

The plot is well thought out, as it heads a new direction. Andy is a grown lad and embarks on a new life in college, but must leave behind the toys. The toys are understandably an important part of Andy's life. He has fond childhood memories of playing with the toys. Can the loveable toys cope with the new changes? By error, the toys end up somewhere else, as they still have a special place in the attic. It takes the toys on a new and thrilling adventure, as they acquaint with other characters, but are desperate to escape. The new characters show a different light as you about to discover. The adventure is filled with excitement and high emotions, but never distant away from the charm, beauty and magic that characterises the animation.

Toy Story 3 is a brilliant CGI animation. The partnership with Pixar proves to be a successful.

If we are considering the medium at first, which is of course a Blu-Ray for this product, then you absolutely won't be disappointed. Toy Story 3 is by far and away one of the best High Def films I've watched to date and undoubtedly the most beautiful looking of the Toy Story saga. This is likely to be expected since it is a modern production, but we should also consider that the original Toy Story (1995), whilst looking sharper than ever in High Def, also reveals the older technology that produced the film. Toy Story 3, however, almost looks good enough to touch.

One of the greater aspects visually is the use of colour, and its of course amazing to see how far Pixar have come in just 15 years. Every environment has its own specific colour timing; the grass and tree leaves pierce out of the TV, but most astonishing is the scene at the Waste Depot, where the small shards of metal seem to roll on endlessly as if each one was designed and rendered separately. Along with Disney's release of 'Fantasia' earlier this month, these two films would be the only demonstrations I would personally need for Blu-Ray technology. And thats without describing the lossless soundtrack that, as with every Pixar Blu-Ray, just fills the room with a wonderful dynamic range. During the 'Freak Out' scene where Ken models his clothing, the kick-drum sounded as if it was being hit in front of me.

I'm holding back from talking too much about the film itself, given it has been talked of so much already. All I will say on this matter is that it does indeed take a different direction to the previous two films, but does so in such a way that is more bold. Toy Story 3 features more moral values and heart than its former films, and thats what won me over as it being the best of the trio.

Film Trilogies are usually a sham. Often the first film is a classic, and then the next two are filmed back to back and make little sense e.g. Pirates, Matrix. If you are very lucky you may get two out of three films being decent e.g. Godfather, Star Wars. Rarely do all three films shine and the `Toy Story' trilogy is one such example. To add even more pleasure to the pot, the third film is in many ways better than the second, making `Toy Story 3' the second best of the lot!

`Toy Story 3' is set some years after the events of `2' and Andy's grown up and stopped playing with his toys. When Woody and co. find themselves mistakenly given to a day-care, will their new life be one of playing forever more, or a short lived time in the toddler room? As a set of films the `Toy Stories' have all had their dark moments, but `3' is the darkest yet with several moments that will scare smaller children. However, these moments are also exhilarating and the story has far more scope and bigger consequences than the first two films, meaning that it feels more epic.

All the original voice cast are back and the animation is better than ever. Once more Pixar have also created a group of new characters that will now be made into endless plushies to be sold in the Disney Store. With an intelligent script that is laugh out loud and exciting, `Toy Story 3' is not only the one of the best animations of the past 10 years, but one of the best films. The BluRay is the perfect format for the film making the colours and animation pop. As you expect from a Disney BluRay, the extras are abundant as the various featurettes chart the making of the film. There is also the short animation `Night and Day' on the disc and an additional DVD copy of the film included for the kids to ruin! An outstanding package.
