Portable and cheap answers to clinical questions,
By
This review is from: Toxicology Handbook (Paperback)
Great book. So far has answered all my tox managemet questions in the ER quickly and without fuss. Cuts through all those questions like "should I or should'nt I give charcoal?" or "is this an issue?" and gives confidence in providing supportive care in the majority of poisonings. Although there are chapters on Australian envenoming, practiontioners elsewhere would like the chapters on pharmaceutical and illicit drug ODs. Portable and very cheap compared to comprehensive US texts.Patient focused unlke some web or computer-based products.

By John Van Der Post (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toxicology Handbook (Paperback)
Perfect handbook for accident and emergency care of toxicology patients. Well structured chapters dealing with all the common drugs, and some less common envenomations (not many snakes around here!). Fundamental principles well outlined, practical approach to the management of all poisoned patients. Will be the pocketbook for all emergency physicians, elective students, intensivists and general practitioners. The new standard in toxicology care

I thought I knew about drugs,
By Koos (Liverpool) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toxicology Handbook (Paperback)
If you think you know all about the pharmacological effects of drugs and toxins on the body, and their management.....think again. This book will open your mind to a new level of understanding of toxicology. No longer a black cauldron of despair. Now you can actually approach the poisoned patient with an answer, using the 'risk assessment' approach to toxicology as outlined in this book, you will be able to deal with all the complex issues pertaining to overdose and envenomation
