This book provides an excellent overview of the planning system from its early routes until the present day. Also details specific aspects in more detail such as conservation policy, development plans etc. It provides a huge amount of information in a very easily digestible format which is modern and easy to read.

As a student I found this book was always good for a quote regardless of your essay title because of the sheer breadth of coverage. Every conceivable planning topic is in here, and it's all easy to read and well set out. An excellent introduction to the planning system.

An excellent account of the evolution of planning to present 15 April 2000
By Kevin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
An excellent account of the evolution of planning thought, and the statutory and non-statutory ways in which planning has been, and is now practised. This book also draws attention to social, economic and political developments, and how these have been reflected in the response of planning and related legislation, as well as environmental issues. A must for those studying town planning at university.
