The STORYS are a 6 piece 70’s west coast influenced country rock band from South Wales who formed in the spring of 2003. With 4 singer songwriters their sound is both fragile and intense underpinned by a dark lyrical edge. The band can turn from tender county tinged ballad one minute to an as wide as the ocean stomp the next-in the same category as classic harmony vocals bands such as Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Crosby Stills & Nash and The Beatles, all of whom had multiple singers. “Town Beyond Trees” was released last year and is now repackaged with a BONUS second disc of live tracks including 4 tracks from their first much acclaimed self titled album from 2006. The Storys were a fantastic band. I own all three albums. I went back and bought the special edition of "Town Beyond The Trees" on the back of the very positive review of the bonus live disc found here. I get weary of the re-re-re release of cds where you end up buying the same album endlessly to get (new/old) bonus material. On this occasion if you are looking for a step for a hint do not hesitate like I did when this first came out. The live version of the title track is truly a goosebump performance. It is one of the very best live songs I have ever heard. Turn the sound up and turn the lights down and it will have you in tears. Even though the Storys have gone buy this edition while it can still be had.

The Storys second album is pure joy and pure class, the title track 'town beyond the trees' is possibly the most achingly beautiful song i have ever heard, the story of a man on death row talking to his unborn son is quite simply breathtaking and if you think the studio version is perfect then just listen to Steve Balsamo singing the live version on disc 2, was there ever a more ethereal voice? just wait till you hear the last chords of this song,you will not believe where his voice goes ! this is a great album and the storys are formidable songwriters and fantastic performing live....go now, and buy this album....you will love it.

I love this group. They are now disbanded but hopefully in the future they will reform. Should have hit the big time.
