We bought this book of accommodation in Scotland as we thought it would be a
fully comprehensive guide, published, as it is, by Visit Scotland.
Sadly only establishments that had paid for the privilige were 'featured', (ie photos and description)
All other hotels, B+B's etc were listed, but were only identified by their post codes and phone numbers
which may be OK if you have sat-nav but no good at all if you are a stranger to the area
and you are 'Touring' (as the book title suggests). If you want to choose a particular type of
accommodation you could be in for some nasty surprises if you just rely on a phone number or post code!
Perhaps we are naive, but we really thought that this book would provide full DETAILS of all the places to stay.

This book offers a very good range of places to stay throughout Scotland covering Hotels, Guest Houses, Self Catering and Holiday Parks. Each entry has the tariffs listed and a listing of what facilites are available at that accomodation. There are excellent photos throughout the book showing not only the accomodation but different parts of Scotland. There is an index with all the Visit Scotland Assured Serviced Establishments at the back.
One let down is that only the highlighted ones have an advertisement in the book. I guess if all the places listed in the index had an advertisement then the book would be quite big. But if all the indexed establishments had an advertisment in this book then it would be the only one you need to plan where to stay.
