Although I am actually maybe the biggest Blind Guardian Fan on the whole planet, and also enjoyed both Iced Earth and the debut of Demons & Wizards, i didn't hurry getting this new output of the Kürsch / Schaffer combination. This was caused by the weird sounding sample of "The Gunslinger" which couldn't really convince me.
However, a few days / weeks ago, my girlfriend ordered something from Amazon and asked me whether i needed a CD. So I bought "Touched By The Crimson King" and a couple of days later I was totally blown away.
The disadvantages appeared on the debut were fixed and all what is left is pure enjoyable and innovative music containing the incredible vocals of Hansi Kürsch and a powerful and finally a fanciful Jon Schaffer doing interesting rhythms (beginning of Dorian - or the amazing opener "Crimson King"), emotional ballads (Down Where I Am - unbelievable) and heroic refrains. The "weakest" songs "Terror Train" and the cover of Led Zeppelins "Immigrants Song" are approximately on the same level as the best songs from "D&W". The other numbers are way up high in terms of riffing and filled with catchy melodies and vocals...
All in all "Touched By The Crimson King" is a jewel and one of the best straight Power-Metal albums published for a long long time. Absolutely recommendable!!!

An excellent second album by the excellent Demons & Wizards!
With Jon from Iced Earth and Hansi from Blind Guardian, D&W make up a brilliant heavy metal band with a very dark style of music.
Every song on this album is awesome, and Led Zepplin's 'Immigrant Song' at the end is just amazing!
Definatly reccomended, especially for melodic metal fans!

I bought this album as soon as I saw it listed. I'm a big fan of Blind Guardian and i really enjoyed the first Demons and Wizards album.
The tracks on this album are really good yet, and I fully enoyed listening to them. There is a nice mix of styles and tempos which is what I like so much about both Demons and Wizards and Blind Guardian.

I actually came across Demons & Wizards by chance. But isn't it so that most great things are discovered by accident?
Demons & Wizards are amazing. I've listened to a bit of Iced Earth but never Blind Guardian but what I've heard from the two together is magnificent. The way that they use choir vocals and some classical intruments really gives the songs a degree of power. Seize the Day is probably my favourite song on the album (at the moment anyway)- it builds up to a really inspiring and moving climax with the choir singing increasing and the voices of the the lead singers soaring above the rest. Buy this album!!
