As his first commercially released solo album, a film score was perhaps not the best project for Dave Grohl due to the huge expectations that would surround its release.
I personally am a huge Foo Fighters and rushed out to track down aa copy of this as soon as it was released and I must admit I was torn.
On the one hand it is excellent incidental music and anyone who has seen the film knows it blends perfectly, it captures your imagination and in true Grohl style is perfectly sculpted.
On the other hand however, it is only a score from a b-movie so fans expecting a treat from the Foo's frontman may have been disappointed.
I believe this is a great album with tracks worthy of single release (How Do You Do and Touch being prime examples) and each individual track has its place on the album and makes it a more fulfilling listen.
There will always be the nagging problem for many however that it is not a true solo album, those expecting another Pocketwatch may be disappointed, but this is one that you need to bear with, it really is an undiscovered gem.

Post Nirvana, Pre Foo Fighters, this is Dave Grohl circa Late!

It even features a couple of tracks credited to Late! and is more readily available than Pocketwatch, If I had to compare those tracks to something, I'd say they resemble 'Virginia Moon' from 'In Your Honor'.

The instrumental (score) tracks are great, Bill Hill theme being a highlight, but yeah, this is Dave Grohl, give him your money already!

This is a fresh listen for Dave Grohl fans out there. Two or three songs worth checking out on the album.

Quite a Variety 4 Oct. 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is a sit on your porch, drink a brew, stare at the stars kind of disc. There is a mixture of mellowness with a rat-a-tat on some tracks. "How Do You Do" should have been a pop single, "This Loving Thing" is slower with a nice twang, and "Touch" has a Cocteau Twins feel with harmonies and soft whispering voices. The instrumentals are short, but they make an impact on the ear leaving you watning a bit more. How unfortunate that there is not another disc of Dave Grohl and Louise Post singing together; they just sound so good together.

Classic Grohl with the perfect foo pose. 4 Jan. 2000
By mark - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is a soundscape fresh from the mind of a true creator of music that captures oneself. The sounds in part like classic foo fighters tunes such as walking after you and february stars, this soundtrack is a must for any foo fan, aswell of lovers of great music.Brilliantly captivating the whispy vocals of Dave and Louise Post(of dearly departed Veruca Salt) A five star soundtrack for a five star film.

Never Before Has A Musical Score Overshined Its Film 24 Feb. 2000
By "weeniebeenie" - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This soundtrack drips with the lush talents of one David Grohl - front man for the Foo Fighters, former Nirvana and SCREAM member. Not only do David Grohl's swanky guitar tabs fit perfectly within the context of the film, but they have re-established what has long been acknowledge as obvious by all Foo fans... that David Grohl's talent and hard-work will continue to soar. This soundtrack works best on those really "bad juju" days when you feel like your head could spontaneously combust at any moment - it works even better within the comforts of one's own car.
