The hit crime thriller parody sees DI Jack Cloth (John Hannah) and DC Anne Oldman (Suranne Jones) reunited and this time Cloth goes undercover.
The City of Town is being menaced by a vicious gang of armed robbers and the police are determined to bring them to book. After one particularly brutal bank robbery in which Todd Carty (Todd Carty) is savagely murdered, Cloth is persuaded to return to the force in order to catch the thieves.
Assuming the identity of a hardened criminal--named Jacques, pronounced Jack--Cloth gains access to the gang and furthermore the affections of Macratty (Stephen Dillane), the gang's twisted leader.
Meanwhile Oldman is being wooed by Hope Goodgirl (Anna Chancellor), an attractive, charismatic, and openly bisexual politician hoping to be elected Mayor of Town. Goodgirl makes no secret of her desire to get Oldman into bed, and wastes no time in doing so--but is her agenda purely romantic, or does she have another, more sinister motive?
In a thrill-packed finale, it's up to Cloth and Oldman to defy Goodgirl's homicidal tendencies by defusing the bomb and bringing the evil-doers to book. Will they succeed? Or will Cloth end up falling abruptly and bizarrely in love with his wife's murderer, Tom Boss, and walking off with him, hand-in-hand, into the sunset? Or both?
Also stars Julian Rhind-Tutt, Adrian Bower, Navin Chowdhry and Daisy Beaumont.
