I gave this to my sister-in-law, who is less keen to cook than I am.

I'm 21, and have been at university for 3 years where I read just about ever student cookery book there was! They were all basic, but lacked the imagination that this one provides while remaining true to its title.

It's big too, I would recommend it alongside Bill Granger's 'Bill's Open Kitchen' and Nigella Lawson's first huge book 'How To Eat' (a steal at under £20 on amazon uk). I've bought those recently for myself, and all 3 are brilliant no-fuss recipe idea books.

I found this book whilst on self catering holiday on the cottage owner's bookshelf. I purchased it immediately on my return (although I've shelves of cook books!). I've tried many of the recipes savoury and sweet - Baby Fruit Cakes, Lemon Posset, Salmon Egg Tarts to name a few, which I've made countless times. All recipes enjoyed by everyone and easy to make. It's such a lovely, clearly presented, 'browse-able' book for even non-cooks I've bought it for 2 friends at Christmas - both thrilled. It is now the first cookery book I go to every time, when looking for something new and easy that won't fail!
