I have never set up a web site and had no knowledge of how to do this, but I followed the training using a lap top to view training and my main computer to train on and I have created a web site for my employer who is very pleased with the result we have just got to publish it and I am so impressed I am going to have a go for a playgroup that I work with, Highly recommend first class easy to follow even for a complete novice like me five star rating. I'm qualified to ECDL level, and struggled my way through some of the printed books on the market in getting to grips with Dreamweaver. I wish I had saved the time, effort and cost in buying this excellent training video first. Do you remember your days at school, college or university - when one particular tutor, unlike any other, really bought the subject to life you were studying? Well, Janine Warner is that person.
While other similar video's on the same subject might cause you to quickly lose interest, this series of intuitive lessons are compelling and attractive. Split into main topics and sub-sections, you can bookmark a particular area of interest for later re-viewing. Janine's easy-going and authoritive nature really makes a difference to your personal learning. I found myself wanting more and more. More importantly, all the information really struck home, and was easily remembered. I can't recommend this training series enough.
I recently looked-out for a 'local' outlet that offered training in Dreamweaver. The nearest location was some 30 miles away - and the cost of the two-day course was nearly £500. Alternatively, the Amazon price of this training video represents approximately 20% of the cost of that two-day course. The other difference being that you can re-live the training experience as much as you like by utilising this two-pack DVD-ROM. If, like me, you choose the z-seller alternative price, it roughly represents only 10% of the cost of such a formal training course.
That leaves enough money to buy the advanced Dreamweaver 8 training programme by Janine Warner (which is exactly what I did).

Content is great, player/interface needs work

I just purchased this along with the advanced series. I've found the content and the instructor to be great. The lessons are well taught, laid out in a progressive manner,and they keep you interested. You won't be falling asleep during the lessons. I give the instructor Janin Warner kudos for a job well done. The only thing wrong that I found was the interface, the player you need to use to watch the lessons and its tech support. You can't re-size it on your computer its either full screen, 50% size or the default 800 x 600 size. If the DVD spins down it will cause the DVD to stutter like crazy waiting for it to spin up again and it has once or twice locked up on my computer and had to be restarted. I was unable to get in touch with tech support on the phone as it keeps switching over to vMail after 15mins on hold. So I Emailed them and they asked me to change some settings in quicktime to resolve the issue. However the change to the settings only made it worse, to the point I couldn't even watch it. I emailed tech support back letting them know their suggestion didn't work and never got a response back? Considering I have 2gb RAM, 256mb Radeon x700 video card with a 3ghz processor, not good? The lessons and content however are good and for that I give it a 3 stars, if their tech support was better and the player wasn't as bad as it is, it would have received a 5 star rating

Must have for an aspiring web designer...

Want to learn web design from the comfort of your home versus going to classes at some school, etc...? This is the product to buy! Jeane Warner, the instructor delivering the training, is lively and personable. She teaches very effectively.. I studied Dreamweaver before and this product provides tons more in terms of value and new in demand skills..
I realize that there are other similar products in the market.. but really this would have to be the best... I am almost done with the training and feel so much more richer and excited to apply those skills to my site designs. Picking up the Dreamweaver skills is easy.. the hard part is the discipline of getting through the tutorial... but Jeane makes that easier since she is lively and creative with her teaching style.
I also purchased the advanced CD-ROM training which I will start working on soon. The course overview for this looks very interesting and the anticipation for learning advanced Dreamweaver skills is just so exciting. I want to be able to do fun stuff on websites that WOW my audiences... most of all when you know Dreamweaver in and out, you can confidently use the tool ... whether it be designing sites from home or working as a designer for a company. I know that this product and the advanced training will surely empower the designer with necessary Dreamweaver skills.... again, the only requisite is commitment to learning!
