Product Description

Julia told Lomax they had been the perfect family, and Lomax believed her. But Sheriff Murph McLean is convinced she has committed the perfect murder. The circumstantial evidence against Julia is so damning that her attorney advises her to plead guilty to killing her husband and stepdaughter. But Julia says she is innocent. Lomax knows she is - so he sets out to prove it. But as Lomax peels back the layers of deceit he uncovers a picture that is very far from perfect. It is a picture of a broken family, driven by guilt, incest and obsessive jealousy, ready to explode into violence at any moment. And then Lomax stumbles across the darkest secret of all... --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Fabulous Debut 10 May 2001
Format:Paperback
This was a fantastic read. Truely gripping. A wonderful characterisation of a man by a woman which is a rarity.

I really felt I was submersed in the persona of Lomax. At times I wished I was there in the main characters place so I could insist upon a more detailed answer from the interviewee, it was great. Although I did not agree with him [Lomax] at times the story unfurled at the perfect rate.

I can't wait until Liz writes another book. This one was recommended by a fellow book enthusiast, and I have to give it a high recomendation to others.

I found myself living through Lomax's experiences as though they were my own, although I wasn't as sure of Julia as he was. Liz keeps us guessing until the very end of the book, where the twist is so surprising, one could only have guessed at it.

I'm surprised a writer of her calibre has only the one book to her name.

Having read this one last of Liz Rigbey's 3 books to date,I expected a good plot and characters and got them.
I found Lomax totally sympathetic and worthy of my concern, loved Deputy Dawg and actually really liked Kim who was meant to be awful!
'Julia' I just couldn't warm to and that fantastic ending justified this!
Only reason it didn't get a 5/5 from me was I felt the 'love' scenes were needlessly graphic & a bit cringey (which I didn't expect having read her later novels)
Other than that, great!
