Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Total Club Manager 2004, from the makers of FIFA, puts you straight into the dugout of your favourite football team. Whether you're fighting for league survival or challenging to win the championship, TCM 2004 will put you in total control. Manage your club the way you think it should be managed. Managerial duties include buying and selling players in the most realistic transfer market to date, creating your own training sessions, disciplining players or granting them bonuses, dealing with national media and, most importantly, keeping the fans happy. Total Club Manager 2004 realistically portrays the pressures of the modern game. Do the job well and you could see yourself as the future national manager. If you fail, it may be time to start looking for another club.

good, but not great 30 Nov 2003
I decided to buy this game purely because I wanted a change from the usual CM series which I buy every year.
On first look it was amazing, the game interface was brilliant and I loved the pickup and play theme to the game. But most of all, I absolutely love the FIFA match engine that is incorporated into the game, I love being able to see the team that I have created actually playing instead of imagining it.

So why didn't I give this game 5 stars.
Well the reason is simple.
For hardcore football fans with tons of knowledge about the sport, it leaves you slightly flabbergasted
I like to scout young talents all around the world and nurture them into greats, but unfortunately with this game, there isn't any real depth to it.
What I am trying to say is that you only get a measly 25,000 players in the game where as with CM 03/04 you get almost a quarter of a million. So you will have to make do with famous or well known players in Total club manager.

So for gamers who love the thought of managing your own football team, this game is perfect for you.
But for real hardcore football fans who need a real complication in your managerial world, CM 03/04 is still the king!

This game is so easy to get into. The only thing you've gotta watch is that u do a full install otherwise u can't access the database editor. Apart from that this game is a massive improvement on FAPLM 2002. The big improvements on FAPLM 2002 are obvious straight away. U have a reserve team in the british leagues (if enough players) u can start as a beginner and work your way up to Football God and your managerial level improves as u meet criteria in training sessions. U can recruit your own staff, be an International manager at the same time as being a club manager. U could, if you want to take complete control of the club, but that's not advisable. U can buy a house when u have enough money. U can get married, have children, buy cars etc. in your private life. U can buy whichever players u think will win u championships and european titles but only if u have enough money. All in all a very good game with a very good 3D match engine and additional alternative match views.

Fun:
I enjoy this game. It's mainly the simplicity of it, or the nice extra eatures that really make you feel in control, but there is no question it's a fun game.

The speed at which the game flows is excellence. If you were to quick play every game, you can finish a season in an hour, and still have done alot. It's great match engine is slightly unrealistic, in which high results are often turnd out, but who cares? It's fun.

The extra features are amazing. Making an 120,000 seater stadium for Yeovil is always enjoyable, and buying club facilities, or employing staff is easy to do.

My one problem for this game is alot of problems. I have no internet acces for the computer on which I install games, and I can only assume (and hope) there is a patch, because it is chock full of bugs.

You can buy pretty much any player within your budget by lowering the bid and then doing a negotiation. Therefore buying a world class player loses some of its... special-ness.

And there are other problems oo. I remember having a match completely ignored by the computer. I then looked at the result and we had won 2-1. Odd...

But once you get past these, it is good fun. It's not very realistic, but you can enjoy it anyway.
