Anyone missing old-school Guns N' Roses needs to hear this LP. I did and it blew me away, it's rare you hear a rock record and get the impression that the band actually believe their own lyrics & live the life they sing about, in fact the last time I did was Appetite for Destruction. This album is the only cd I've ever heard which can match it and I do not know how these guys aren't as big as any of the rock bands ruling the music scene today. They've not had one weak album so far but this is by far the best of them all. Full of attitude and sleaze but not sounding out of date and irrelevant.
Shockingly good.

This album, following on from the band's earlier effort, Diesel and the power, has helped catapult them into the limelight they deserve. Far less cheezy, and more distictive than the first album, Total 13 adds a power and energy to the bands sound. Songs like Make me Madman, and Highlights are instant hits and others such as 8-balled and UFO Romeo are also superb. In fact few of the songs are bad, making for a truely classic album. Similar to the Supersuckers in many ways, yet more punchy and energised, this album has perhaps not yet gained the recognition it deserves. However still a work of immense talent and innovation. 5 stars by anybody's standards.

Backyard Babies are the future of Rock. As more and more people get fed up with boring grunge wannabes, any band with some energy seems amazing. The 'Babies have energy in abundance, backed up by some killer songs, and a live show the envy of much bigger bands. They may have an image in the press, but they have substance to back it up.
Total 13 is their breakthrough album, and every self-respecting rock fan should get a copy - they take the best bits of the NY Dolls, The Stooges, Ramones and more, blend them together and out jump classics such as 'UFO Romeo', 'Ghetto You', and 'Highlights'.
