Product Description
The V711UK video cassette recorder comes with a range of recording options to simplify programming it. VideoPlus Deluxe puts an end to recording confusion. It makes it easy to record TV programmes, using short numerical codes (plus codes) shown in TV listings pages to tell the video recorder when to start and stop recording. Up to six programmes can be recorded from six different channels (terrestrial, cable or satellite) without having to switch channels manually. VideoPlus Deluxe also controls selected brands of analogue, cable and satellite set-top boxes as well as normal, terrestrial TV. Selected ONdigital and Sky Digital set-top boxes may also be controlled. The PDC (Programme Delivery Control) feature means you receive signals transmitted directly from TV stations making for accurate recordings even if listed viewing times change. The video will only record when the programme starts, even if times have changed. Many TV stations now offer this service. On-screen programming allows manual programming for setting the timer if you don't have VideoPlus codes on hand. OneTouch Record and a 6-event timer are also available.

Using the Toshiba V711UK is as easy as programming it. Features such as 60-second rewind (E180), Front A/V inputs, index search, NexTView Link and Icon on-screen display make it easy to set up and use. Auto Set-Up automatically tunes in all channels in the correct order on TVs and video recorders (BBC 1 on Channel 1 etc.) and suggests solutions to common problems, such as "Check aerial is connected". Auto Clock Checking automatically sets the date and time on video recorders and checks it daily at 8am. It also automatically corrects for British Summer Time or after a power cut.

The recorder has three SCART connectors--the 21-pin universal connecting cable socket system used for audio/video components in Europe, to transmit RGB, composite video, S-VHS, mono and stereo sound (they're also known asPeritel or Euroconector). A SCART lead is included. The Eco Mode turns off the clock display when video recorder is on standby, and there is NTSC playback. The dimensions of the V711UK are (w)430 x (h)95.5 x (d)299 mm

Its hard to write a review about a video player in this digital age of DVD's and television channels that plus over the 500 mark. But if your looking for reliabilty and as clean an image as VHS can muster then the Toshiba V711UK is the one for you.

Simple interactive menus and a plane control allow even the most dumb witted of users a chance to shine - While for those who are looking for something more complex it offers Video Plus Delux, Satilite controlled recording - so you don't have to worry about changing the channels for your late night tapings, and even the option to lay seperate audio tracks when editing from your cam-corder while using its assembly edit capability.

However, it should be noted that its editing capabilites are purely for the home amatuer - there are no dedicated controls for this nor is a frame advance option via a spindle (though it is possible through the remote).

In combination with other Toshiba equipment this a dream as the remote has multifunctions that may be used on the rest of your set-up.

Meanwhile its extras, such as a clear picture pause, fast fast fast rewind! and its ability to sense if its running out of tape and switch from SP to LP are a god save!

It's a great VCR player; full of features; rock solid performance; great sound/picture. The auto setup feature worked flawlessly and I was enjoying this VCR within minutes. Nice on-screen logos - all very logical. It's what you would expect from a Toshiba.

just returned my 711uk back to supplier, the rear
sockets panel was loose, the three scart sockets
all are only fixed to this panel on one side, when you try and push the scart leads in, the socket gets depressed into the panel, and a poor or loose connection is made !
looked at others - they are all the same, bad design.
