I bought this Toshiba Satellite T110-11U with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed after reading a number of mixed reviws, however after using this product and a Samsung N220 10.1" notebook (which is also excellent) my preference is for this Toshiba 11.6" ulta portable laptop.

I use the Toshiba for web access, e-mail, Word/Excel, watching photos & movies and it does it all very very well.

I wanted portability and durability and I feel the Toshiba delivers this. It is well made with a nice keyboard action, clear and detailed scren (gloss)which I find very easy to view inside and out and a nice mouse action from the good size touch pad.

I read a review that said the touch pad/mouce stuttered and the sereen was annoying at times but I just don't get these problems, possibly a subsiquent software update has resolved these matters.

The unit has wireless b,c & N, 1 x HDMI, 3 x USB (one of which you can set up so it supplies power to an accessory even if the machine is in standby or switched of) Multi card reader (SD, XD, Memory stick), VGA out, 3.5mm headphone out, 3.5mm mic in, Fast Eternet port & webcam.

It is lite and measures 28.5 cm wide x 21.5cm deep x 3cm thick. Battery lasted 8 hours on my unit. It comes with Microsoft Works to write & view documents and a trial version of Office 2007 home student.

There is other Toshiba and security software included but it is up to you if you choose to use them or un-intall them and just install the software that fits your needs.

There is a programme from Toshiba that protects the hard drive by parking the drive heads if the machine is moved to quickly which can be irritating but you can turn this application off so nothing there to worry about.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good for the price, but a few gripes. 12 Feb 2010
By Tom
It's a great machines - very quick, easy to use and comes with Windows 7 Premium which runs fine (and is the minimum version for functionality), plenty of software including a really handy tool from Toshiba that updates drivers and software for you.

Keyboard is a decent size for typing and the screen is great - really good quality for playing movies etc.

The only couple of gripes are the touchpad, which can be very hard to use at times - its either too responsive or just doesn't respond at all. The buttons are quite stiff to click too. Also, HD movies struggle, even those of 780p quality.

Battery is really good, had about 7 hours out of it in 'eco' mode, not so long when watching films etc. that need more power.

Overall a good buy - a quick machine that handles most tasks quickly and without problem.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good and poor 6 Dec 2009
This computer has many good points but also a number of limitations. The display is great, the battery life really is 6 hours. On the other hand there are some drawbacks. Most importantly, the computer is painfully slow, both in booting up and in starting programs. As windows 7 has been advertised as being faster I was very disappointed. Also windows 7 seems to have some of the problems of my old windos XP in that it is fickle about recognising USB memory sticks. It detected one, but has failed to detect another one which works OK on all my other computers. There also seems to be a lot of annoying Toshiba probrams giving alerts.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good enough 29 Nov 2010
By Owl
I'm disappointed. I spent the first 3 or 4 hours removing the unnecessary Toshiba bloat-ware, in the hope of speeding it up a little. Battery life is only 4 hours for me, and that's just for surfing the internet. And Toshiba will charge you and extra 30 if you want a recovery disk. As I say, I'm disappointed.
