Toshiba Satellite P300-19P 17-inch Laptop (Intel Core2 Duo P8400, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD)

We purchased the Toshiba P300 19P after having trouble getting the A300 1MC model. Although this laptop was a jump from the price of the A300 1MC we thought the extra spec was worth it. We had £620 in the kitty as we had bought a Dell Inspiron before Christmas but this went back as there were several build issues and the speakers were awful.

This unit has a great specification for the money - although the listed HDD size of 320GB appears to be wrong. I am waiting for a response from Amazon and Toshiba about this. The unit I have has two internal hard drives: 1 is 150Gb and the other is 145GB equalling 295GB, some 25GB short of the claimed amount. The screen is impressive, especially moving up to the 17" from the previous 15" (which happened to be a Toshiba too) and this didn't make the unit too much heavier than the last one. The set-up was pretty easy although it did take a while and the reboot each time was very slow which made me wonder if this was a taste of things to come, however this is not the case. Boot up is quite quick although we have yet to install all software yet. Internet connection via wireless was easy to set up. Haven't used the bluetooth yet. Speakers are good, but do crackly a little with more demanding bass tracks (they are only small speakers). All the output/inputs are along the sides and front because of the way the display pivots from the base. Battery does seem to drain quite quickly even when just browsing the net with no other appilcations running. This is fine for us as we mainly us it around the house not having the space for a desktop, but this might be a pain on the move although you might perhaps think a 17" is a bit big for that sort of portability. Very pleased all in all though.

For the price, this is the best configured 17" laptop!
Fast processor, 4 Gb of memory, excellent screen, full keyboard, and good looking on top.
I researched laptops of all major brands, and went to many shops to look and feel, this was the best, and not the priciest!

The look of the computer is really morden, nice and profesional.
The speaker are very, very good.
Fast and elegant.
Can you ask for more? Fantastic
