Some time ago a lady brought me a laptop asking if I could repair it; there was no DC input socket - just a hole where it had been. She admitted there had been some problem where the socket had been stressed. Not having met this before I was a little dubious but said I would investigate. After searching the net and watching videos about taking the laptop apart (not something to be undertaken lightly) I set to dismantling the laptop. When I had got it completely to pieces there was the DC input socket lying inside. Examination, and trying to put it back into its slot, showed the socket was broken. Back on the Net to look for another. So many Toshiba DC sockets on eBay where the laptop model number did not quite fit; I did not feel happy about any of them. Eventually I found this one on Amazon, which, from the data, seemed to be for the correct laptop. I am pleased to say, although it cost a couple of quid more that eBay ones, it was a perfect fit; came quickly as well. The lady was pleased to get her working laptop back and I have not seen it since, so that is good. Excellent all round.
