Multi-touch Functionality
The Satellite C855's touchpad features multi-touch gesture support, providing an innovative alternative to conventional scrolling and buttons. The touchpad features an advanced, touch-sensitive interface solution that senses the position of a finger or fingers on its surface and recognises pinching, swiping, and rotating motions performed by simply moving your fingers.

The multi-touch touchpad recognises six different finger gestures, including:
- Pinch Gesture--two-finger pinch delivers zooming functionality in many Windows applications. The two-finger pinch zoom can be used to zoom in or out of photos, maps, or documents.
- One or Two Finger Scrolling--scrolling delivers functionality in Windows applications by using one or two separate fingers in a horizontal or vertical motion anywhere on the touchpad, with the scrolling rate controlled by your finger speed.
- Chiral Scrolling--whenever you wish to scroll just slide two fingers downwards (or upwards) and then you can move your fingers in clockwise or anticlockwise motion to continue scrolling.

Bought as a home laptop, quality is superb, screen excellent.
Fast speeds- iPlayer, youtube, lovefilm streaming all work in HD and are completely jolt and pause-free.
Keypad is very easy to use and comfortable- number pad at the side very useful.
PC connection to our 37" sony led tv displays in excellent quality and films are ..nearly..as good as dvd- I think an HDMI will be on the cards soon (laptop has this plug too which is handy).
All in all, excellent.

Compared to my previous laptop (another Toshiba from a few years ago), this is one is so much faster and better in so many ways:
I really liked:
The price: sub £400, for a super specification: Intel Core i5 2nd generation (with integrated graphics) with plenty of hard disk space and RAM.
The screen: large 15.6 inch with crisp / bright pictures. HD movies really come alive here (but the picture will get darker if viewing from an angle)
The keyboard: even for a "budget" laptop, this is a full size keyboard with large palm rest. The touch pad also has multi touch gestures that I use often for zooming in/out when browsing online. Overall the quality of the finish of the laptop is much better than I expected.
Comes with Bluetooth (no need to buy those USB bluetooth adapter) to get my pictures transferred from my mobile phone.
I liked:
The initial set-up: simple and reasonably fast.
The warranty from Toshiba: pick-up and return for 12 months.
The enhanced sound software (SRS): no hifi quality but makes a big difference to "standard" sound. I now always keep on.
The free pre-installed software, especially Office Starter (Excel/Word) and Nero.
I did not like:
Toshiba always pre-install several of their own software/drivers that I prefer to turn off / disable to speed up booting time. Some of the software is also only for a trial period (e.g Norton).
Overall, I am very happy with it and would certainly highly recommend.

Bought this to replace my old Toshiba which was working at snail pace! Spent weeks reviewing everyone else's reviews about laptops and chose this because it was a familiar make which I am used to and also it's processing speed. It is much lighter than my old model, so doesn't crush your lap! I like the silver lid, but not so keen on the all black keyboard - this is a personal preference though and doesn't impact on the whizzy speed of the machine. I haven't explored all the functions yet on it, as I mainly use it for word-processing and accessing the internet. Speed is great and although it is only a 15.6 inch - the screen looks much bigger and wider. Have found that the speakers are a little bit tinny sounding, but overall a good value machine which I really like and would recommend to anyone. Also the set-up is really easy if you are not techno minded as I am not - there was no problem at all in linking to a wireless network. Great service by Amazon as well, I ordered it on the Saturday afternoon and it was delivered Monday morning!
