5.0 out of 5 stars An ideal laptop 4 April 2010
Being based in France and wholly dependent on the internet for many things, we needed a backup system in case the office machine fell over. The Toshiba Satellite has lived up to expectations. Delivery was prompt and in expensive and the machine required no specialist expertise to set it up and network it with our main PC beyond knowing the WEP key of our modem. The Windows 7 package is easy to understand and the additional Toshiba functions have enabled us to create backup and system restore files so that in the event disaster striking we can restore or rebuild it. Battery life is reasonable - about 2 1/2 hours of continuous use in balanced power mode before we have to plug it in again. It is also significantly faster and easier to use than our main XP based PC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toshiba laptop 31 May 2010
This is my 4th Toshiba satellite in the last eleven years and is the best so far - and, thanks to Amazon the cheapest. Easy to set up and to learn how to use. I would be happy to recommend to anyone and wouldn't consider anything else except perhaps an Apple

5.0 out of 5 stars Toshiba Desktops 7 Jun 2010
Just purchased my fifth Toshiba Desktop. Although the L500 cost approx. half the last Toshiba( Satellite 3000) It performs just about as well(excellant). As a graduate/retiree of the USA Aerospace industry have been involved with most significant type computers for last fifty years---can't beat the Toshiba!

5.0 out of 5 stars Toshiba Satellite L500 1xm 3 July 2010

Verified Purchase
This was purchased as a first computer for a novice and has proved very successful. Easy to use, with a good screen and a responsive and quiet keyboard. Fast enough to do everything required, and Windows 7 is simple and friendly in use. The weight and size are suitable for portable use, but the screen is large and comfortable to use for long periods. Viewing angle is wide and easy. The WiFi works effectively and has very good range. The optical drive seems to do everything imaginable! Battery life has not been tested to the full, but has not been a problem in everyday use. The only thing required was to put a proper security suite on as the free ones supplied with new computers are usually inadequate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value for money 25 Jun 2010
I bought this recently for my mum & dad, both now retired and living abroad. They had been using a desktop PC for several years but needed something that didn't take up too much space. I chose this Toshiba laptop based on the reviews from others on Amazon (many thanks) and the price/spec.

They really like this machine. The keyboard keys and characters are large and easy to read, which at their age is a bonus! The screen is also a good size, with the text quite sharp. There is some light reflection from the screen though and I had to increase the brightness and contrast to make it easier to read. The built in webcam is of reasonable quality and ideal for Skype video calls, etc. For what they will be using it for, i.e. internet access, email, quiz games and word processing, performance is fine and this should last them for at least 5 years. Overall build quality is what you would expect for the money and a fully charged battery is lasting around 3 hours.

I would recommend this PC for users of a similar profile and have rated it overall 5 stars considering its specification, build quality, performance and price.

5.0 out of 5 stars best computer for the money 7 Jun 2010
By L. Bolt
I love this computer the colour quality is brilliant and the sound is really good.I'm running it on ECO power so it also helps the environment.I play lots of games and go on Facebook quite a lot and I've had no problems at all.I also save all my family photos on the computer.Windows 7 has got so many options and different tools too many to mention but you'll have fun finding out what you can do.You also have the option of 3 or 4gb ram.
