4.0 out of 5 stars Good Spec Netbook 10 July 2009
The laptop arrived on Wednesday and it took about 15mins to get it all configured with XP. The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to,but once you get the hang of it its fine. The touchpad can be annoying at times but there are no issues when using a an external mouse. Being a netbook there is no CD/DVD drive. If you need to rebuild this laptop with the pre-installed OS you can use the HDD recovery feature, create rebuild disks (This will require an external CD/DVD drive) or order recovery CD/DVDs from Toshiba. The performance is good if used as an internet machine and using MS Office. Don't expect it to deal with demanding applications. The biggest issue I had was that the browser performance when using MS internet explorer was really bad, however after downloading safari browser it worked a treat. Overall not a bad little package as long as you use it as a 'netbook'

Amazon service was excellent as usual so 5 Star for that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good little package 22 July 2009
After using this netbook for a week I'm quite happy with it.
The first thing I did was install Windows 7 RC on it through a USB card. It runs quite smoothly compared to XP even with the Aero features enabled. It scores a sound 2.0 on the Windows Experience scale.

I've since ordered a 2GB RAM chip as it can slow down a bit when scrolling through demanding websites (regardless of browser) but otherwise found the performance very usable even with multiple apps open.

The build quality is very solid though I did notice a few light scratches on the frame of my screen. The keyboard takes a little bit of getting used to but now I'm starting to enjoy it.

Overall I'm very happy with this netbook and although a built in 3G sim card would be nice, I getting around this issue by tethering with my iPhone through wifi.

On a side note, the reviews I've read have mentioned that this Atom 1.66Ghz CPU can utilise 800Mhz RAM but the one supplied by Toshiba was 667Mhz. Also note that although the netbook can handle 2GB in total, there is only 1 RAM slot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toshiba NB200 13 Dec 2009
I love this netbook.
Having read some of the reviews posted, I ordered the 2GB memory upgrade, however the netbook arrived several days before the memory, and I must confess I was pleasantly surprised regarding the performance with the standard 1GB memory which shipped with the computer.
I have now installed the 2GB memory upgrade, and must say that I am delighted with this small but perfectly formed package.
I had this netbook up and running within 2 hours of taking it from the box. Windows install, fully networked wirelessly with 4 other computers, hooked up to my BT Homehub, and browsing the net, MS office 2007 installed, virus software registered and updated, Windows XP updates installed, 3 network printers installed and and my stand alone Canon MP640 wireless all in one printer/scanner/fax installed, and printing.
Did I mention that I have been transferring my music, and documents, whilst browsing the net for the past 7 hours or so and still have 20% battery left !
Don't get me wrong, I have no illusions that anything more would be pushing this somewhat, but I plan to use this fantastic little piece of kit exactly as intended - as a NETBOOK.
I must admit, as an avid digital photographer, I missed having my beloved Photoshop available, but realising how resource hungry this software can be, I opted for the open source , FREE equivalent, Gimp 2.6, and am even more delighted that I now have an incredibly versatile machine at my fingertips 24/7. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Photoshop won't run, but I know form experience that this software (PS CS3) can be very memory intensive and can be very demanding on even the highest spec machines.

4.0 out of 5 stars Used by student/commuter 31 Oct 2009
I bought the NB200 a month or so ago to use on campus and while commuting/travelling, so far it has completed the basic tasks I ask of it very well, and, touch-wood, I've had no problems. It seems fast enough for for the work I do, and the wireless seems to pick up a connection very quickley. Easy to set-up and with impressive build quality I'd recommend the little Toshiba to anyone. The only downside is the larger battery pack that seems to be quite weighty, however, the battery's long-life means I don't have to carry the A/C adapter with me anyway. Whether the fact that my mum now wants one is a positive or not I'll leave you to decide.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for traveling and meetings 20 Oct 2009
I bought this because my primary laptop breaks my shoulders when I'm traveling, plus has a very lame battery life. This one is perfect, light, well made, and really long battery life. I added 2GB memory right away, and I can run all my programs, albeit somewhat more slowly than my main laptop. Still, it will run anything at a reasonable speed, fine if you are on a long plane flight.
Looks good and is unobstrusive at meetings.
Keyboard is fine, almost the same size as my big laptop, except the position of Home and End is weird. Touchpad is squirrley, I'm going to call Toshiba about that.

4.0 out of 5 stars A netbook more equal than others 11 Nov 2009
All netbooks are essentially the same in specification, but the long battery life, cute styling, and unusual keyboard make the Toshiba stand out from the pack.

I bought this because I wanted a laptop that was actually portable, and this definitely is. It's so small and light I can stick it in my purse and bring it with me to a coffeeshop or to work. It has a stylish look to it as well. I love that the power button is in the middle of the hinge of the computer. The white and silver looks nice and the chicklet keyboard makes satisfying clicks as you type. The most annoying thing I've found about the netbook is that because the keyboard is so small and the mousepad so sensitive, that at least once every ten minutes I accidentally hit the pad while I'm typing and it'll move the text to wherever the cursor is on the screen. Annoying! Also, keep in mind that when the netbook is folded up, the battery pack sticks out of the back. I bought a laptop bag for a netbook that I thought would easily fit, but because of the battery it didn't and I had to return it.

The battery life is what really makes this netbook excellent. It has over six hours of battery life so you can actually bring it somewhere and not have to worry about plugging it in after a couple of hours. Its processor won't win any speed contests, but it's quick enough for me to surf the internet and write. It does what I need it to do, but I'd hesitate to recommend it to people looking to do gaming or anything too heavy on it. All in all, I'm quite pleased with it and have zero major complaints.
