"Yes" if you require a no hassle portable 2.5" HDD 500GB solution.
It is very light in weight, with a slim plastic casing and is quiet in operation.
Be aware that you only get the HDD unit and a short USB cable. Nothing else, not even a protective case nor any backup software!
Come on Toshiba!, surely you can include a sleeve or something that helps to protect the device during transportation!!

I bought this hard drive as a practical solution to back up my files and have not bee dissapointed! It is slightlty bigger than a passport and packs half a TB of capacity without any need for plugs, and most importantly NO external power source. I would recommend this wholeheartedly! Have not had any issues so far.

Being a technophobe but desperately needing hard drive back up I bought this item with a little scepticism. However it was simply a case of plugging it in and away you go. Files transferred very quickly and I had backed up my entire PC within 10 minutes - loads of space left as well. I would heartily recommend the Toshiba HDDR500E)3E - it looks good too and doesn't take up much room in my drawer.

USB socket is weak, and wobbly
Great little drive, but if you can't access it after a few go's because the usb socket is poorly connected inside, it becomes a nice little piece of rubbish, and an infuriating one... Read more

So far so good
This is at the moment doing all it says it does. It is easy to use and has made such a difference to the speed of the laptop now the photos are stored in the External Hard drive.
