This was bought as a second Blu-Ray player for the kids room. It looks great, with rounded corners and a truly slim line profile with a brushed aluminium top cover. It measures only about 3.5cm high, 29cm wide and 19cm deep and only weighs about a kilo.

The front panel is uncluttered with touch-sensitive controls although has no front display. The only buttons on the front are the power, play, stop and eject. There is a USB port on the right hand side towards the front. The rear is also uncluttered with only an ethernet port, HDMI port and digital audio output. Certainly no frills here although connecting it up is a breeze. It worked straight out of the box with no messing about.

Playback is quiet thankfully as some budget players I've had in the past can be a bit noisy. It loads the discs quickly. Picture quality on Blu-Ray and DVD has been faultless so far. The DVD upscaling seems to work well although you can tell you are not watching a Blu-Ray.

The supplied remote control works well but does feel a bit cheap and flimsy - will have to see how this stands up to the abuse the kids will no doubt give it. Of note, there are no HDMI, ethernet or digital audio cables supplied so make sure you get these separately.

iPlayer and YouTube seem to work OK although we only have a very slow broadband connection as we live way out in the country. We don't use Netflix so I cannot comment on that. Playing MP3 from a USB memory stick works well too.

So what's missing for me to only give it 4 stars? Well, for a start there are no parental controls - I would have liked to have a little more control over what the kids play on it. There is no conversion from 2D to 3D although that might be asking a bit much at this price.

Bought this mainly for the built in wifi. Initially tried to connect using wifi but this failed. So hooked it up directly by ethernet cable. The box then automatically updated its software. Reconnected wifi and now all works perfectly. The youtube and iplayer apps now work great. Picture quality is very good but the player can produce a slight whirring noise. May need putting in a tv cabinet to eliminate this. Bought this for £55 from Amazon marketplace.

Bought this to go with my toshiba tv.arrived on time and in perfect condition.very impressed with player after i opened and set it up.have a sony blu ray already and have to say that i prefer the picture on the toshiba.wi fi works well and loads up netflix etc very quickly.very quick to load up blu ray discs.the unit itself is tiny so would be great if you have imited space.lost a star because the unit does'nt have a front display but you can pull up a display, time, chapter etc on yoyour tv screen.touch sensitive controls are a nice touch and light up a light green colour.also buttons power down after a few seconds leaving the unit completely blank which is good when watching at night.remote is a bit tacky but you should be able to use your tv remote to operate unit. To sum up a nice compact unit that does what it should very well and quickly.

Bought this to go with my 3D TV. Found initial wireless setup to be tedious but having done so got access to BBC iPlayer etc.
All this gets totally lost again when an upgrade occurs (of which there have been several!) and the whole lot has to be re-entered... WEP code and everything! Its happened again today and I can't be asked. Doing iPlayer via Freesat now!

I Bought this unit as an upgrade my current Samsung Blu-Ray unit

The Toshiba is a very well built unit, the picture quality is excellent and in 3D it does a very good job of making you feel like you are in the movie, the only down side is the wireless feature which I have still yet to fix, it can see the network but has no way for you to input in the security code to allow access, and for this reason its only getting a 4 as the instructions could be a lot clearer on how to do this and are vague at best.
