As good as the film looks output at 24fps, we go a stage further with 5:5 pull down feature. For the purest reproduction of the original film, each of the 24 frames is replicated exactly and then repeated 5 times in 1/24 of a second. Superb 6 April 2010
Wanted this particular model to link with my Toshiba Regza TV. Very impressed with the results plus you get a free 12 month subscription to LoveFilm.com. Excellent value and would recommend to all.

Things to like about this Blu-Ray player are the picture and sound quality. I have it linked to a Toshiba 37 inch tv and it delivers a very good HD picture. On SD dvd's it says that it gives an improved picture, but I can't see any difference to my Phillips SD DVD player. My main gripe with this player is the remote. The buttons are small and not very well labelled. The layout is also very confusing. The keys glow in the dark, but again not enough to be able to see what you are doing. The drop down cover on the front of the player is a pain. It drops down, but does not close again. So it means getting down and lifting it up before the kids get their fingers on the buttons on the front. I have hooked this player up to the internet but the content it downloads is not worth the bandwidth used. In fact I do not see the point of all these extras the DVD makers tout. All I want to do is watch the movie. So would I recommend this player. I guess that would be a yes. If only the remote was more user friendly.

Toshiba BDX2000 Blu-Ray Player with BD Live
This is the first Blu-ray player i have bought, and is also the first Blu-ray player to be released by Toshiba after losing out in the HD-DVD format wars.

I am overall very pleased with it, but would note that I would not have purchased it at its full price point, as I believe better features can be acquired for less outlay. But at its current low price point it is something of a bargain.

The player is a little unusual in design by the fact that its front buttons and disc tray are hidden behind a flap. This flap comes down when you press the tray open button on the remote, but has to be closed manually once the (and it has to be said slightly flimsy) disc tray is closed.

I have this player hooked up to our 37" Toshiba 1080p full HD TV via the included in the box full 1.3 spec HDMI lead (Don't get suckered into the buy a more expensive cable debate. It's digital it works or it doesn't!) Picture quality with a well produced Blu-ray (The Good the Bad & the Weird a prime example) and images are pin sharp with lots of detail (skin pores etc) and vibrant colour palette.
This player will also upscale standard DVD's to 1080p but not in my opinion to the same standard as a Panasonic DVD recorder that we also own, but still very watchable.

Other reviewers have mentioned some problems with sound (lip sync) when connecting this player to a surround sound system. We have connected this player's digital optical output using a Toslink cable to a Yamaha home cinema amp with B&W 5.1 speakers and report no such issues.
In fact sound from blu-rays is very good, very punchy, so much in fact that the volume has to be set quite low to avoid upsetting the neighbours!

We also hooked up to the internet with a Ethernet cable (purchased separately) to access BD.live interactive service, but to be honest i would not bother.
Discs with a lot of Java content can take forever to load, while it does go open the beers and popcorn, then sit back and enjoy a great movie viewing experience.
