In-built DVD player and Freeview
Movie night doesn't get much simpler than the Toshiba DVD Combi range. The built-in DVD player eliminates the clutter from extra cables and components, and the digital tuner ensures that you'll be ready for the digital switch. For true viewing pleasure, the Combi will look great anywhere in the house. The built-In slot loading DVD player with easy to access operation buttons is a convenient all-in-one space saving design. This DVD player is capable of playing all of your DivX digital movie files, JPEG images and MP3 music files.
Built-in digital tuner
Between now and the end of 2012 the UK will be turning off all old “analogue” TV transmitters and switching your TV signal to “digital”. Digital TV offers new ways to enjoy your TV. You will have a greater choice of TV channels as well as access to additional features and services which will enhance your TV-watching experience.
When the digital switch happens in your area, your older analogue TVs will no longer be able to pick up a signal. To keep your normal TV service running, you will need to convert your TVs to digital before your area’s switchover date.
Switching your home to digital is easy. All you need to do is purchase digital tuner and connect it to your analogue TV or alternatively, you can replace it with a new digital TV. All Toshiba LCD TVs carry the Digital Tick and come with Freeview built-in, making them the ideal option for preparing your home for the digital switch.

HDMI
1080p represents the highest possible screen resolution available today. Allowing up to 1 million more pixels than 720p resolution televisions to be used at any time, 1080p resolution provides an amazing level of detail and colour; picture quality which needs to be seen to be believed.
With the popularity of high definition 1080p televisions rapidly increasing, so is the importance of cables which are capable of transmitting high definition content from source to screen. Faster, more efficient data transfer is enabled by the HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connection.
Pure, uncompressed streams of digital data are transmitted, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of the highest level of sound and image quality. Simply connect the HDMI cable from the DVD player to your TV and enjoy pure digital picture and sound quality. Currently HDMI is the only commonly available connection that can deliver 1080p resolution from a video source (such as a DVD player) to a television. By delivering clear digital audio and video via a single cable, HDMI dramatically simplifies cabling and helps provide the highest-quality home theatre experience.

great picture shame about the programme guide,

This review is from: Toshiba 22DV713B 22-inch Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV/DVD Combi with Freeview - Black (Electronics)
Having read the reviews I didn't think the programme guide being "weak" would be too much trouble and the price was excellent so I ordered one. It arrived super quickly from Amazon and was extremely easy to set up and the picture is great. I found the sound a bit flat but played around with settings until is was ok. However the programme guide is REALLY annoying. My 6 year old freeview box and 17 tv i wanted to replace gave me a EPG I could read from the kitchen table where this one despite the much bigger screen I had to stand next to the TV to be able to read it; the guide was really slow to respond to up /down keys and the sound changed to the programme you were scrolling past so you can't listen to what you're watching while you look what's on elsewhere which is so annoying I decided to send the whole thing back. One feature I did like - it was really easy to delete stations you never watch or are scrambled so at least while you were scrolling really slowly(!) it wasn't through loads of unnecessary channels

I bought this TV for my small living-room, to replace a big old 28" TV that took up a whole corner of the room and looked pretty horrible, to boot.
This sleek little piece of kit is a thing of wonder - I love it! It has a DVD player integrated into the body, and Freeview functions as well. With Freeview, as well as all the extra TV stations, you also get a lot of radio too, AND of course you can play your CDs in the DVD, so all my entertainment needs are covered. According to the manual, I can even play Divx movie files and MP3 music files, and view JPEG images on it too. It's a really neat solution if you don't have much space. It is supports NTSC video as well as PAL. It measures 55cm across, and is 39cm high (stand included). It's very slim (about 7cm) and takes up very little space when it's on the stand, on a surface. The screen is just the right size for a small room, and the sound is surprisingly enveloping. The picture is excellent - the blacks are really dark, and other colours vibrant and vivid, whilst remaining natural. Motion seems really smooth and natural, and I haven't noticed any 'juddering'. Technically, it's picture resolution is 720p - I've had a look at the 1080 screens, and on a 22" picture with a blu-ray player, it's hard to tell the difference. There may be a small one, but it's too minute for me to bother about. There's two HDMI connections - so you can watch Blu-ray if you want, and has a USB port, which is very useful if you want to play things directly. There's also a PC input, so that you can use it as a monitor. If you have other Toshiba equipment that's compatible with Regza, there's a Toshiba link HDMI-Regza socket too. For older equipment, there's composite and component connections, too. The downsides - you're buying an integrated DVD player, which isn't at the forefront of technology (but you can plug in a Blu-ray player if you want). The resolution isn't 1080p (it's very hard to tell the difference on a screen this size). None of these things bothered me, and I doubt they'll bother most of you either. I love the fact my room looks bigger, and I love the design of this set. It's Toshiba - quality kit, and comes with a 1 year guarantee. Highly recommended - the only reason I didn't do this before was the price, but at this price I couldn't resist. If you've been pondering making the switch yourself, this is a perfect moment.

Great TV (but not 100% perfect),

This review is from: Toshiba 22DV713B 22-inch Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV/DVD Combi with Freeview - Black (Electronics)
Very well pleased with this model. Had thought about buying the previous model (22DV665DB) but the sound in that model was very poor. Much better sound output from this new model. Only 2 negative points 1) The TV is slow to respond to the remote control - but no big deal really. 2) Don't like the fact that the Electronic Programmme Guide switches channel as you flick through it - annoying if you want to continue listening to a program while you browse.
Bought this for my touring caravan, thought it could be too big but not at all. Built in DVD is great. Very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone. I reckon all TV brands have some niggly things wrong with them but with this one there is nothing serious.
